Who could ever forget Tex riding around in his pickup truck, checking things out so that 1)no harm came to us students and 2)None of us students brought any harm to ourselves. He was a lasting part of my memories of St. Gregory's.

When my son started at St. Gregory's this year, I was surprised to see a police force at the University. All I could remember was a time when TEX was the "police" on campus. In some ways, as a parent, I am comforted to see those men and women in uniform around campus but, the student in me remembers a more innocent time when Tex as that 'man in uniform'. His uniform was his cowboy hat and boots. There was a comfort that came with Tex, too.

I don't know if Tex could be the 'campus police' today but he was an institution at SGC that could never be replaced.
