You and Ashe, Amy? Did you two go rollerskating? Did you "couple skate"? Amy, who were those boys from South we hung with for awhile? Maybe as freshmen or later? We each began liking one of the two and then I think we swapped. I know I met one of the clowns later in life and actually went on a date with him.. He and I ate somewhere near Sheerboredom, in the middle of nowhere (You know, a bar/restaurant thingy owned by a couple and called something like "Steve and Rosie's".) Anyhow, we waited forever, got plowed, and he fell in his soup at the table. I had to drive us home, using his dad's Caddy, and I hit a parked bus. And no, it wasn't the first or last of my wonderful driving stories. Who were those two?

Amy Korkko (Wieland)

hmmm...were we freshman? I can't remember...there must've been too many. Or maybe I'm just soooooo "in love" now that I have forgotten any other men.....ha!

Tracy Dickfoss (Reynolds)

Can't remember.... Sean, maybe, and some other dude. I actually heard a long time ago, that the one had died of cancer, I think? who knows. Too many men for Amy!

Amy Korkko (Wieland)

Sean Olehafen...and didn't you date Jesse Wanezak? I did too eventually. He ended up marrying Kris Zastrow. Yep...Sean was the one when we were juniors...Senior punch day...got his leg almost cut off in Elkhart Lake (i think it was that lake)from the rotor...and then died a few years later.

I heard Ashe's and my song on the radio this morning..."You're the inspiration" by Chicago. Nice. Man was I a dork :)

Tracy Dickfoss (Reynolds)

Okay, yes. I guess it was Jesse. And I had heard he married Kristine.:) Cute!
Good ole Chicago; I think I was partial to Debbie Gibson and Air Supply. Talk about being a dork!

Amy Cramer (Toth)

Tracy, you are totally not a DORK!! Let's not forget you are married to the ONE and ONLY Rick Springfield!! And......might I add I feel priviledged to say I saw him one summer in Shevegas at Lakefest!! You must have been there!! I totally danced to "Jessie's Girl", when I looked around I don't think anyone was standing still, even guys.

I was talking with Cyndi Dufek a few days ago and the subject of the Spy Hunters club came up. Does anyone remember what the hell that was all about? We seem to think that it gave Jack Roblee some excuse to look into windows. One night during senior year I saw the bushes outside my window rustling, I ran outside and I could have swore I saw Jack running away. So if there are any past (or current) members out there, please let us know. Thanks...

I believe half of our class was a member. The key was to be a founding member and have the handmade, commemorative, spy hunter badge.
That brings back a few memories. Many of us went to gradeschool with Jack! As a young kid Jack had gerbils as pets. One day probably fifth grade or so he stuck one of his gerbils in the driver side of a pink "Barbie" corvette. I assume it was his sisters vette. Nonetheless, he then gave the vette a pretty swift push across the room. The vette had a head on with the wall at which time the gerbil was ejected from the vette and also had a head on with the wall. As young bystanders we were laughing until the soda came out of our noses. Nowadays you would get arrested for animal cruelty.
I have no idea where Jack is. The last time I saw him was at the ten year reunion.

Okay, what I'd like to know is how we just went from Rick Springfield to Jack Roblee. That's QUITE a leap!
And Amy, I have seen Rick numerous times. He just never gets old to me! Who CARES what he sounds like now, or that he hasn't written/sung anything new in 2 decades...look at the guy! I'm the only person owning an ipod that has 42 songs by Rick Springfield on it. Now, there's something to be proud of.

Sorry Jack. I meant no disrespect by finding the parallel between you and Rick an unusual one. Perhaps he too was a member of your Spy Club?

Amy Cramer (Toth)

Tracy, I do agree with you on the "Hot" thing about Rick Springfield!! Did you see him when he was on Oprah?
And........I'm definitely a fan of all his old stuff!! I can say with out any embarrasment too, I like David Cassidy as well. But, was that the 80's or the 70's? Am I having another flashback, way back.....I think!
We're probably being laughed at as we speak!! My husband thinks I'm a nut case anyway for some of the music I still listen to. I'm glad I'm not the only one with taste!!

02/17/09 11:44 AM #32

Dawn Carey (Denison)

I will join you in saying Rick Springfield is HOT (and the closer the better....lol I saw him for my birthday in 2005 and he laid right on my table). Not so much into David Cassidy, but I liked Shawn Cassidy. And Micheal Jackson, would never thought he would be the freak he is now, but I have a box around here with a bunch of stuff my mom kept (if it made it in the last move...lol)

02/17/09 01:41 PM #33

Amy Cramer (Toth)

Yeah, Shawn Cassidy too!! Remember the Hardy Boys? I used to watch that show all the time and read the books. Thanks for the memories on that one!!

Tracy Dickfoss (Reynolds)

Amy, I DID see Rick on Oprah! I actually taped the darn thing! He is even my screen saver, which is a hoot because I teach at a high school, and they have no clue who he is. I always say he's my hubby, and because we live far from where I teach, kids rarely see the real hubby.
Dawn, you saw him for your birthday? He laid on your table? I likely would have passed out! I've seen him a few times; the first time I was only 10, but I haven't seen/heard him sing lately. I heard he was recently jailed for beating up his wife. Go Rick go! The way I see it, it saves me a little trouble... Anyone up for posting bail?
I barely remember the Cassidy boys, but I think I was stuck on Rick b/c of the "bad boy" image. I do remember wanting to be Madonna though... I had some weird, lacy tight-like things, mesh gloves, and some head-wrap, bow dealy for my hair. I don't think I quite matched the look...

Tamara Miller (Oppermann)

I too saw Rick on Oprah recently. He still looks pretty darn good. Saw him at lakefest years ago also. Hey- he's an 80's icon. We'll always love him.

I was thinking...wouldn't it be nice to get together that saturday afternoon of the reunion in a park with all our kids? (The Social Chair-Sorority girl is coming out in me, sorry) But really, I thought it would be really nice to see everyone's children. We could let them run and play for an hour or two, and enjoy a drink or drink box (or beer Travis)in the park.

Let me know what you think.

I really like the idea of letting the kids play at a park and meeting everyone's kids. That would be great fun!! I'm in.........

I had a Shaun Cassidy sweatshirt...the collar was so tight...but I wore that thing...how about Leaf Garrett...remember that cat? How about Duran Duran...didn't someone in our class have a hair do like those guys...no.....it was flock of seagulls...Mike Clark...didn't you have one of those flock of seagulls hair dos?

02/18/09 12:50 AM #38

John Sommer

Didn't Aschenbach have a flock of seagal haircut?? Freshman year????or was I just that wasted???

Dawn Carey (Denison)

Yes Tracy for my birthday. It was on Friday the 13th when we went and my birthday is on the 15th. He was walking around getting everyone to sing "Don't talk to Strangers" and behind my back my group was pointing at me saying it was my birthday so he came over by us. They had cleaned off the table while my back was turned. and he came and sang to me then with me. I got a guitar pick too, he dropped it when he was playing his guitar later and my mom picked it up. I saw him when he was here too for lakefest, I think it was his 50th birthday that year. He still is looking good for 50 something. I will get the pictures out and add them here or on myspace page. (I added them to my Myspace page, to many to add here) http://myspace.com/denison98

Hey Tammy, first it's good to hear from you. I really haven't talked to too many people from the 'hood in the last several years. Secondly, why is it beer for me? I enjoy an occasional juice box, as long as it's wine in that box. So if we all meet to let the kids remind us of how old we are, I'll share my juice box with anyone. Oh, Rick Springfield is a total wiener. He couldn't hack it in the soaps so he became a tween star. (just kidding, I don't want the wrath of the '89 gals coming down on me) And here's one for Tracy and Tammy, I do believe I once applauded you two singing REO during recess at Cooper. Go Cooper pooper scoopers!!!

As for the haircut, it was Aschy. There is proof of it in one of our annuals. Don't remember what year but I think it was Teresa Dortman pretending to cut it off.

yes...Todd had one of those...but it was DEFINATELY NOT when i went out with him :)

Tamara Miller (Oppermann)

Travis,

I wasn't trying to single you out for the brewha, I just thought I could entice you there if I included the thought of it. My husband would probably join you for one though, he's looking forward to "many" for this weekend! Poor guy. I went to his 2 years ago, so payback is a comin'. Lucky for you and Kris, you each know everybody. How is she by the way? Well actually, how are you Kris?

Thanks for the standing ovation back at Cooper. Didn't we Rock! I'm impressed with the memory.

02/19/09 11:14 AM #44

Tracy Dickfoss (Reynolds)

Obviously, I had to take a break. I was plotting my Travis revenge for the Rick/wiener comment. And, by the way, Noah Drake (Rick) made a come-back on General Hospital (Yes, I taped that too.), so eat your heart out.
The park gig sounds good. My husband likely will not attend at all unless there is the promise of a beer (or 7) involved. Tammy, I forgot. Our husbands sort-of know each other, don't they?
And, yes, Trav, thanks for the standing O at Cooper. We'll return it when you complete you MC job with a quick song. And, our very professional band was called "The MillDickHinz Superstars" for Miller, Dickfoss and Hinze. Catchy eh? We did even not make it in the Tween world... Sad!

You guys are absolutely cracking me up...luckily everyone is out of the house right now so they don't hear me bursting out laughing over seemingly nothing. Tracy, you especially have a way with the words!

Shawn Cassidy...my first big crush...if you don't count the sixth grader who lived next to me when I started Kindergarten (he held my hand on the first day when I climbed onto the bus, such sweet memories.) Anyway, Shawn Cassidy - I had an album of his in, like, first grade that had his beautiful face in super-size on the front. I used to take it and put it in my sister's Barbie townhouse, so Barbie had this way cool Shawn Cassidy wallpaper on her bedroom wall. Can't say I listen to much of him anymore.

Duran Duran, however, now they're still awesome to listen to. Kristine Simonson and I were ga-ga over them. When the video for The Reflex came out and would be on Friday Night Videos we would be sure to see all two or three times they ran the countdown, and we would be all decked out in our 80's gear and stand on the couch with our "microphones" and scream whenever a clip of our guys came on - she went for Simon LeBon, ick!, but oh, that John Taylor, now he was HOT!

Sorry girls, somehow I missed the whole Rick Springfield thing. I guess my mom watched the wrong soaps. I only knew him for his music at the time.

I'm in for a park get-together on Saturday. I'm glad you brought it up, Tammy. And Travis, your version of a juice box sounds good to me. However, if I start in the afternoon, God knows in my old age, I will not even make it to the start of dinner...I'll have to pace myself. Like Tammy's husband, though, mine will be more than happy to partake, as he will know no one also.

Trav, you'll have to get Kris on here, so she can dig up memories of who we used to sing to...I have tons of other memories of things we did growing up, but I'm drawing a blank in the music realm. Most of my memories at the Schoenenberger house revolve around time spent in the pool and games like kick the can, etc. Although I do remember sitting on the front porch and learning how to trap a mosquito in your skin when it is biting you - not sure which sister taught me that one.

Ok Carolyn, I had the same Shawn Cassidy Album and mine came with this wall size poster that I hung in my bedroom. I can still remember it as if it were yesterday!! Anyone out there a Scott Baio Fan!! I had a t-shirt with his life size face on it!! I kind of cringe at that now!! Remember "Joanie loves Chachie" or something like that! Was a big fan of that show and "Charles in Charge"! Bringing back any memories for anyone?
