After high school I attended UW-Milwaukee. Worked on Water Street in Milwaukee as security for a couple of bars. Ran into a number of you when I worked at Luke's Sports. Worked on water street as security, bartender than management. All this while working on an accounting degree. Had some bumps in the road in college. My mother passed away in 1999 and after that I didn't take school seriously for awhile. Joined a fraternity and drank a bit. Working in bars didn't help. Sundays are a killer in the bar industry lots of monday morning headaches. But working in the bars was a great time and many friends. I also got to be on reality show for the BBC. They sent us to Turkey now there's a story for you all. I eventually slowed down on the drinking and got my head on straight.
Eventually I started doing some bookkeeping for a couple of the bars. Graduated and while working as a manager in one of the bars started my accounting business in 1995. My first clients were a couple of the bars down on Water Street. Doing a lot of tax returns for the bartenders and college students around there.
Eventually got out of working in the bars and turned fully to my accounting business. From 1996-2002 I grew well and had a nice thriving business on Milwaukee's southside. Handling smaller business clients including some bars from downtown Milwaukee still. My main clientele became personal taxes.
In 2002 I met my soon to be beautiful wife and decided I wanted to grow more. So after a long year negotiation with Jackson Hewitt Tax Services. I bought a franchise. They allowed me to keep my accounting side seperate as they are mainly a personal tax business. Since then I opened up four other offices under the Jackson Hewitt name on the southside of Milwaukee.
I find I love doing taxes and have become very good at it. My business does between 9-10,000 tax returns a year in my four offices. So this time of year is hectic but come April 17, my time relaxes and I play a lot of golf all summer.
As for my wife we were married in 2003. We have no kids but a we do have a beagle named Fred. We live in Jackson WI which is right between Germantown and West Bend. A quiet peaceful place. We want kids and are working on it. My wife was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis a year after we married so she has had a lot of pain the last few years. She had to have a hip replacement and will have a knee replacement soon. So her bearing a child might put too much strain on her so we are currently exploring adoption.
