Tony this is so cool! Thanks for being so quick to get it done. I really enjoyed seeing everyone and am looking forward to our 35th. Hopefully I'll be used to being in my 50s by then! Is is just me or does anybody else not even feel that old? I still think I'm barely out of high school (until I look in the mirror).

I feel like I'm still in my 20's (sometimes my wife tells me I act even younger but that's a different story) until my daughter and her friends hit me or something and I try to get up and run after them. Then I feel like I'm in my late 40's!

Thanks Tony for getting this all together this is really NEAT.
Jim and I took the rose in memory of John Farmer to his mom Sunday morning, she thought is was very thoughtful that we as a class did that. She ask who she could send a Thank You know too, to show her appreciation and to Thank everyone. I told her that was not necessary, but having this site, I am glad to tell you all how she felt.
It was so nice to see everyone those 2 nights I just wish we didn't have to wait another 5 years too see everyone again.

Tony this site reminds me of a site that I am involved with, with a bunch of quilting ladies from all over the US. We get together once a year in St. Louis and we are just like family we talk to each other every day if we can about everything. What our plans are for the day, how vacations went, the kids, grandkids, we also make sure we Prayer Chain always going for those that might need it if it is yourself or even a family member or friend.

I hope everyone keeps this going because it is a great way to keep in touch.

Well I have taken up enough space for tonight, I guess you all now know I can ramble on here just like I talk to much HA HA!!

Until next time God Bless Diane

Thanks for doing that for John's Mom. That was really thoughtful of you.

Does she have anything she would like for us to add about him on here? There's not much on his In Memory listing except his name and the year he passed.

I found a deal where I can add a chat room to the sight. Would you or anyone else like for me to add it? Let me know. I'll be glad to do whatever we need to help this site help us stay in touch.

Hi everyone! OK, I went ahead and uploaded some photos today. I did it mostly to put peer pressure on the rest of you!

We sent our older daughter off to Santa Barbara to college today. Not an easy goodbye! Does anyone have some words of wisdom?

Barbara,
I know that its hard when they leave for the first time,
but its even harder when they come back. Both of my kids
are finally out of the house. But Brad and Gracie are here every other weekend. But we try to make it a fun time. We went to Grant's Farm this last weekend and had
a really nice time.

Hey Barbara,
I sent my last one off on the 20th I thihk he was the hardest to let go. We now have an empty nest and it is so quite now. I thought it would be nice not hearing his cell phone ring all the time and looking in his room and no dirty clothes on the floor, but I do miss him.
I know thy have to grow up and move on (we did).
But like Brenda they always know they can come home if they need too.
Hang in there, Diane

08/24/08 07:25 PM #17

Barbara Mihalevich (Arciero)

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words about letting my first one leave the nest. She's adjusting, and so am I!

Jim and Diane, I thought of Daniel just this morning when our priest was talking about his time as a seminarian. Our prayers are with Daniel -- and his parents! Brenda, it sounds like you've figured it out.

Well, I've been putting off cleaning the house all weekend. Now I'm running out of time and excuses....

By the way, I've noticed a few new pictures popping up on the site. Keep it up!

Speaking of transitions and children growing up, my daughter gets married in three weeks. I'm so proud of the beautiful person she is, and I love the young man she is marrying. I haven't blinked at the passing years, the increasing age, or the encroaching wrinkles. I know that aging is a part of remaining in this lovely world, and I've got plenty of reasons to remain in this world for years. But it hurts a little to think of my baby being so grown up, with her own home and a future that separates from mine. When I lost my last grandparent and stepped one generation closer to my own mortality and my parents' as well, it hurt also. I think the two events are related, in that they both signify a future and an ending. Feel free to post encouraging responses, I'm feeling my age these days.

C'mon Teena, you're no older than the rest of us geezers. Besides, my son has been married 4 years and has even presented me with a grandchild. If THAT doesn't make you feel better nothing will, at least you're not a grandparent yet. Hope the wedding went off without any hitches Congrats on the son-in-law. Looks as if traffic has slowed down on the site. Lets go Class, keep those cards and letters coming ! LOL Everyone have a joyous and SAFE holiday season.

David says we all need to keep writing on here to keep in touch. So first of all remember to wish Killy O'Laughlin Wilt happy birthday (today) I do not remember who is after that... but me I am still a young thing. Brenda has heard from Larissa, I told her to post it here so we could all read. If I (or actually my dear husband Chris) does not get a Christmas card to you, have a great holiday season from the Kirby household.

Way to go DEE. How did your dear husband get on the mailing Christmas card list too? He already has to do everything else around there as he is outnumbered by women so badly. Happy late B'day to Kelly and next up is Sandra Hillard and Dennis Klusemeyer. I saw Dennis today at physical therapy. He had rotator cuff surgery Monday. Having recently had the same take my word for it,Debbie has a big job on her hands for a while cuz Dennis will take a while to adapt to being left handed. Tonight for dinner, try eating with your opposite hand. I know I don't look like it , but I nearly starved the first week or so. Can't believe a mouth my size is that tough to hit left handed. again, happy Holidays to all. Peace

Dear Classmates,
About 3 weeks ago I received a letter from Larissa. She
wanted to thank the class for sending her a card and remembering her during our class reunion. She especially wanted to thank Steve Embree for being such a
dear friend. It was a very nice letter. She talked about Tyler and how she was going to see him this xmas.
First time in 5 years. I spoke with her mom and she said that she was nervous about taking him out there. She said that she would love to have letters. Which I have wrote her back. Telling her about my family and basketball games, etc. She wanted me to pass along her
mailing address to everyone.
Here it is:

Talk to you later,

Kelly O'Laughlin (Wilt)

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for all the Bday wishes. It didn't hurt to bad to turn 49. I do agree with Dee Dee. No more birthdays for me.
I have kinda been out of it during Xmas. Leslie had 2 knee replacements done on Dec 17th. Kinda messed up Xmas. I'm telling you guys, take care of your knees.
This surgery really hurts bad. I think we are on the down hill slide. The worst is over. Now he's healing.
Leslie graduated from the walker to a cane. He walked up the driveway today in the cold wind. I have a better respect for nurses who put up with alot from there patients. Leslie hasn't been to bad. Only when he doesn't sleep at night. Any ideas?? I know Dennis K has been in alot of pain after his shoulder surgery. I guess things start breakin down & have to go into the shop to get fixed.

Happy New Year everyone!!

David’s 12/3 message inspired me to post something on the site. I first just want to say that I hope everyone had a great holiday and that you’re entering 2009 feeling reasonably well. Yes, we’re getting older, but isn’t it somewhat entertaining to hear ourselves uttering all those old-people clichés that we knew we never would?? I am sooo guilty of that!

Mike and the girls and I were treated to a gift of Missouri for Christmas. My mom and brother Greg came out for a week. It was great! We seldom get to spend holidays with any of our extended family, so this visit was extra-special. And Mom and Greg are ideal guests. (By the way, we have a spare bedroom. Keep that in mind if you ever find yourself out this way.)

Well, I’ve got to get the laundry done, so that’s it for now. You guys are awesome and I really enjoy reading what you’re up to. Like David said, keep those cards and letters coming!

Greetings to everyone,
Hope everyone is into the swing of the new year. Something was said the other day about getting older and
then it hit me. I will be 50 this year. Its hard to beleive that I have a grandchild who's just turned five and both of the kids are in their middle twenties.
I have to go now. Will post something later.

Happy New Year, all. Was reading all the messages and feeling waaaay behind. My muchkin just turned 8 on Wednesday, so I'm just entering the mom-don't-embarrass-me-by-kissing-me-in-front-of-my-friends stage. :-)

Am feeling really good, but am on a mission to shed 30 pounds. (it's my before I turn 50 goal) It is the HARDEST 30 pounds I've ever had to shed. Am lifting weights 3 days a week, doing aerobics 5 days a week and have virtually cut out my beer. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH.

Hope all is well with everyone. ttyl

A new year and a new president! Hope things start looking up soon. The stock market especially. These economic times can get pretty rough. Jobs are hard to come by these days. And how about having 14 kids. Isn't that something!

February is National Heart Health Month. Get your bloodpressure & cholesterol checked. Get physically active
and eat low fat food.Maybe it might be a good time to quit smoking.
I sound like your mothers! Just watching out for you guys!
Want you to be in good shape at the BIG 50.
Im glad winter is getting closer to being over.Im ready for some good sunshine and green grass. Hope you'all
are doing good!

Hi everyone!

In case you didn't already know this, Leona Calvert will celebrate her 100th birthday on Monday (Feb. 23). How many of you had her as your second-grade teacher? I did and I LOVED her!

Mrs. Calvert used to live at the Villa, so I got to see her when I was there last summer visiting my mom (same time as our class reunion). She is still the same sweet, vibrant woman I remember from second grade.

If you'd like to write to her, she is now living at the Salt River Nursing Home.

Just think, we have only 50 more years to go and we'll catch up with Mrs. Calvert!

Best wishes to all,
Barbara

Hey all,

It's been awhile since I've written, so i thought I'd add my late wishes for everyone to have a happy and healthy new year.

Terri, Mauna, and I have been doing well. We moved to Decatur in December, and I've been busy getting my new wood shop set up.

We became the proud parents of a 6 month old 75 pound Mastiff that we named Lucy. She's a big 'ole girl. Her daddy weighs 230 pounds, so I would suggest investing in Iams dog food if I were you. We'll be raising the value of their stock in the coming months and years. Watching her and our 3 year old Pug play is hilarious!

I was sorry to hear about Paul Harvey's passing. I've listened to him since I was a kid. His voice was as distinctive as any I can remember.

Keep the messages coming! Happy birthday to Connie, Diane, and Steve!

Sincerely,
Tony

Well it seems I have been lax about posting now as it's been months. For those of you living in more temperate regions, PHHHHTTT on you ! Feb and March (so far) in Missouri has been nothing to brag about. I really want this cold damp crap to be gone ! Glad to see Leslie out and moving good the other day in Casey's. Saw Dennis at his store the other day and he said his shoulder is becoming more useful agin. recently saw Chuck Webb, (sorry don't remember hip or knee) I told him if this stuff keeps up kelly will have to find a place handicapped accessible for the next reunion. Wow ! 49 yesterday and I sometimes think I feel every minute of it. The weather of course exacerbates that. Haven't seen the most handsome child ever born (my Grandson Chase)since Christmas but am going to Omaha next weekend to remedy that. Looking forward to spending a few days with my son Lance and his lovely wife Jordan as well, but mostly Chase. I get 25 to 40 pictures a week of the little guy but that's not quite like being there. He has three teeth now and more on the way and is super chubby (sorta like his G'daddy). hope all is well with everyone and look forward to visiting with you around the site.

BTW : at the Moberly hospital the other day i saw a poster listing employees of the year for all the hospitals owned by that group. Unsure if it is the same one however there was a nurse named Scott Ewing at a facility in Arizona. Did look like Scott. does anyone have any info on scott nowadays? Last i knew, i thought he was doing trail rides in the Grand Canyon

Hey all, Easter weekend and the weather is....well you know, Missouri. Hope everyone is warm and healthy. Time flies. Keep those updates coming people it is nice to hear about everyone. At the Kirby house things continue to be a rat race. Track is in full swing at SS, when the weather cooperates, the few meets that we did get in the wind has been blowing a gale. Just a little more then a month left in the school year, so the natives are beginning to get restless. Happy Easter!

a true shame you can't bring a firearm to school to help maintain order , Dee. I'm glad there are people like you who can TRY to educate the next generation, I am afraid I'd have to start slapping the little ones that acted like I did ! LOL

Hello Everyone,
Just a quick note to see how everyone is doing.
It's been a long winter and we are so glad to be able
to sit on the porch. I saw Jill Parks last week. She was in Shelbina. She lives in Idaho. Is retired from the military and has a state job.
David you have me interested in this Scott Ewing thing. Maybe Terri Hines could find out for us.
