Bob was born and raised in Shelby. Graduated from Shelby High School in 1966. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 4 years, one year in Viet Nam as a medic. After the service he worked in Alaska for ten years. Bob returned to Montana and married Pamela Woldtvedt in August 1981. Bob worked as a driller in the oilfields of North Toole County until a job related injury in 1983. In 1987 Bob and Pam bought the Shelby Motel, which they operated until the time of his death.
