Attended Northwood Business School after graduation; 2 yrs Midland, MI and 2 yrs W.PalmBeach, FL. Studied at home to be medical transcriptionist and did that in many locations starting in central FL and IN. Stopped doing that just days before Hannah was born and hadn’t returned to work until April, 2013 now doing Pharmacy Technician work for a mail order pharmacy in Overland Park, KS
Met my husband, Doug, while living in central FL area during the mid '90's. He is originally from PA. He was a sous/room chef. He has followed his career moving up the ladder thus we have moved many times since marrying in Nov. 1999. Since then, we have lived in FL, KY, IN, AL, and now MO. Though he worked in classy hotel restaurants in the beginning, he has been in many different casino restaurant for most of our marriage. I can't believe we will have been married for 20 yrs this coming Nov. Where does the time go? Heck... we have been out of high school for 30 yrs. Again... where does the time go. WE ARE OLD TOO. I don't remember it going this fast back then. LOL. 😂😂
Doug and I have 3 beautiful children together; Hannah ('02), Becca ('05) and Brian ('08). It had been great to raise our family at home. And I am very greatful that we were able TO be able to do this. Sometimes I feel like a single parent as Doug's job in the culinary industry, as well as in the management area of it, is VERY demanding of his time. It is very normal for him to work 12-15 hrs/day (on salary). But somehow, we all survive the struggles of today's times. I guess that's what I miss most about not living in MI anymore with my family. In all the states we've lived, there hasn't been any family whatsoever near us. If Doug could get a good offer from some of the casinos in Detroit, I think we'd move in a heartbeat. Gramma (my mom) would just love that as well. We only see her about 3 times/yr, so it's tough. Thank God for webcams, email, Instant Messaging, text, etc... things we didn't have when we were growing up.
I have returned to the working life as a certified pharmacy tech after I did medical transcription for a few years before I had kids. But when I needed to return to the work life, pharmacy is what fell in my lap. I have worked in a mail order pharmacy, OPTUM Rx, now since 2013. It has its Ups and Downs and Goods and Bads; it’s a JOB right. $$ We “Sling the Pills to Pay the Bills”. 🤣
This is a very cool website here. Thanks to whoever put it together. This is a great way to keep in touch; better than Facebook.
PS
I was bummed to have missed the 30 yr reunion. I just couldn’t do it this time. The kids are starting school this week and you know how it is. I also had a second back injury on my job and this time had to have back surgery for it. I’m doing well and all is normal but I have to watch those long car rides and such as I still am recovering and returning back to normal. From all yours photos, it looked BEAUTIFUL. Thank you to those who were involved so deeply w all the details you put together. Your the best.
