Well, I've lived in WA almost as long as I ever did in AR! So, no I'd never heard that term. I was wondering about it sense it was in all caps. HAA Oh, well.

Everything up here is baked. No hush puppies either. It's very different. When I find someone here that was raised in the south we spend tons of time just talking about food. It's rather funny.

People eat brussel sprouts here and LIKE THEM! Yuck. Most people here don't like lima beans and have never heard of black eye peas. I have friends that come to my house just to have cornbread!

When I first moved here most people didn't like me. They said I was 'too friendly' I said HELLO to everyone. They don't do that here either. Waving to your neighbors isn't common and saying hello in the store isn't either. I don't say ya'll or fixin' much anymore and I say pop instead of coke. It's a sad. :-)

Trina, get out before you convert! na just kiddin i spent some time at Whitby Island it was not all that bad just misted alot? but it was a fun experence! as for friendly spend some time in the north east NYC is the worst, Boston is not as bad but its not like it is in the south, but the larger cities in the south are becoming more more like those up north, so many transplants down here!

Haa ha. Well, my family says I sound like a yankee and here people say I sound 'different'. They usually ask if I'm from TX. We have tons of people here from CA. It's one reason our housing is so high.

LOLLLLLL....I just returned from seein' my kid "perform" at school. Get this: it's a pep rally officially called HPRD...which eloquently stands for "HILLBILLY PRIDE RUNS DEEP!!!!" Somebody pinch me...I think I might be in redneckville! : ) Just kiddin'...wouldn't have it any other way!

New poll on the home page!

Trina...good thing you are "talking" to us now...it's possible that the "y'all's" and the "fixin to's" will come back. I bet you miss sweet tea too!
I have to say that I didn't grow up eating seafood but I have also converted to the web-footed ways. My favorite thing is when crawfish are in season. I remember coming to school and my first college party was a crawfish boil. I laughed...we just played with those things in the creek and there was NO way I was going to eat those things...My date peeled them for me and I became a fan that night! Of crawfish...not him...:-)

Stacy, I know exactly what you mean! I am a crawfish convert as well...but I still won't suck the head. NO WAY! It's a glorified bug, for Pete's sake!!!

I think the Peanut Boils are confined to Alabama and Georgia...

Name that tune:

"Well I heard Mr. Young sing about her
And I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don't need him 'round anyhow"

Too easy, huh?

It is GREAT to talk to people that understand fixin' to and ya'll! I used to have fun by telling everyone that my name was Ruby Jewell!!! It took a lot of work to not laugh and to remember to answer to that name!! LOL I still have 1 friend that calls me Ruby to this day. Everyone here thinks that all southern people have double names. So I just let them think that.

Sometimes just to throw people off I'll spell pretty-purdy. Just because it's fun to watch them react!!

The first time my parents visited me in WA I took them to a nice seafood restaurant. The waiter told my dad the special was King Salmon baked with butter, lemon and rosemary. My dad looked at him and asked if it could be battered and fried!! I thought the poor waiter was gonna faint. LOL

Sweet Home Alabama!
How bout this one?

I bought a novel, some perfume, a fortune over you.
But it's not my conscience that hates to be untrue.
I asked of my reflection, tell me what is there to do?

Vicki Ausbrooks (Shaw) (1988)

That would be "Tempted" by Squeeze!

Nice to see you back, Jamie! Been missin' ya'!

"Lady luck never smiles
so lend your love to me awhile
Do with me what you will
Break the spell...take your fill."

Foolin by Def Leppard, of course

As you leave, please won't you close the door.
And don't forget what I told you. Just cause your right doesn't mean I'm wrong. Another shoulder to cry upon.

With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But its the rhetoric of failure

My girl wants to party all the time, party all the time, party all the time. My girl wants to party all the tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime.

You'll never get it.

"We are Spirits in the Material World" by The Police! Nice one...I was stumped for a while. Trying to avoid the temptation to cheat! : )

Jamie Gartman (1989)

No, silly. It's Party All the Time by Eddie Murphy.

Try this one.

Purple rain, purple rain. Purple rain, purple rain. Purple rain, purple rain. I only want to see you bathing in your purple rain.

It's a toughie.

Ok, seriously.

In France, a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name. By chance his girlfriend came across a needle and soon she did the same.
At home there are 17 year old boys and their idea of fun is being in a gang called The Disciples, high on crack and totin' a machine gun.

Sign O' the Times....Man, I love Prince!

Back atcha...
There will be a new city with streets of gold
The young so educated they never grow old
And a, there will be no death for with every breath
The voice of many colors sings a song
That's so bold
Sing it while we watch them fall

11/23/08 12:47 AM #345

Jamie Gartman (1989)

All 7 and we'll watch them fall...
7 by Prince

Ok, try this one.

I knew a girl named Nikki...

Never mind. Try this one. It's not Prince.

My body's burning it starts to shout.
Desire's coming it breaks out loud.
Lust is in cages, till storm breaks loose
Just have to make it with someone I choose.
