Mark that is awesome! I love those old Schwarzenegger action flicks!

Timely subject. I am signed up for a concealed carry class on the first and am looking at pistols right now, trying to decide what I want. The problem I have is that I have some big hands. I like the Glock Model 27 .40 caliber for a good mix of size/quality/caliber... but the grip is too short for my hands.. the Glock 30 .45 Caliber is the right size... but too big for me to ever entertain the notion of concealed carry. ... so I need to find a Glock .23 and see how that feels.

I always keep my shotguns around the house with buckshot in easy reach... (it will be a bad day for someone who attempts to break in to castle Stevenstein while I am there, but I wouldnt hurt a flea.. at this point it is more the principle of the thing.)

Vicki... whenever you get back on... we eagerly await your report on your reunion.

I checked out the slideshow Aaron did on Facebook. That dude is something else. Gotta give him his props.
I don't carry. I am well armed here. As pistols go, I like my Springfield Armory 1911 .45. I don't have to conceal it though. I have a Taurus 9mm for Jaime. It would disappear in your catcher's mitt though. Glock builds some fine hardware.

(correction - Glock 23 not .23 obviously... the model 23 is a .40)

In case anyone wanted to see the video that Aaron presented to their class at their class reunion this weekend. Here's the info. You don't have to be member of their class to see it. www.sheridan88.com there is a CLICK HERE link. to the video.
There a few people on facebook who have posted pics....I'm sure there will be more! Makes me even more excited to see everyone at ours later this year!

Steve- I have big hands to and that led me to purchase the Magnum research Desert Eagle .50 cal. It is a great weapon!! If you don't hit them you will scare the dog mess out of them from the percussion! It is insanely loud!! I have only fired it once without hearing protection!! It will never happen again, unless i'm gunning down a perp! lol Concealed permit means your responsible for you actions! I choose to carry mine in plain view of everyone! So!! Beside it is a huge gun! Try one out at Don's weaponry!
It has a little bit of recoil but it is so accurate!!

Desert Eagle also has a nice .44 Mag out. Its not quite as large as the .50 cal and packs a considerable wallop.

I still prefer to carry a large caliber wheel gun a la "Dirty Harry." Add some cherry wood grips to a Smith & Wesson Model 29 (if memory serves me it's a 29) and it'll probably fit your hands pretty well. For that matter. custom grips on a .357 would probably serve the same purpose and the gun would be more practical.

Taurus even makes an 8 shot .357 that is supposed to kick some serious bootay.

Thanks for the tips...

I think a .50 is a bit of overkill for me. I am a finesse guy... and dont feel the need to... ahem... compensate.

But I think a .40 is about as small a caliber as I would want to go. I have other reasons for being interested in Glock as well.

I am not in a super rush... but I will check out some different things. The guy who teaches the class is a big Kel-Tec fan for concealed carry... so I thought I might just get a big revolver for the hose and a little tote gun for if I ever need one... but then I start feeling like I am being wasteful... shooting is not going to be a hobby or anything for me... it is just a case of "better to have and not need than need and not have." So I am looking to split the difference and looking for a gun that will have plenty of stopping power and be marginally concealable in case the need should arise.

Of course by this time tomorrow, all of that will be banned!

Steve, the Glocks you're looking at will be fine. Although you should check different grips. They make a huge difference. And believe me, a .357 mag does not give up any stopping power to the larger calibers. I still have my Ruger Blackhawk in a .357. It's my "out in the woods gun". It can even shoot the .38 rat shot. I use it to kill copperheads around my property when they get close. It's a very versatile round. And if you're looking for a do it all kinda gun, that's a good caliber. I wouldn't recommend the Blackhawk cause it's kinda like the old Colt Peacemaker.
I hope you're wrong about that Jaime. We had a lot of issues
when Bubba was in and the last 8 years have been relatively worry free. You may be right though.
Man do we cover the gamut on this site. We were just talking about beer weren't we. Then we got off on making fun of Nickleback. Now we're into firearms. Kinda like that radio station Steve was talkin' 'bout.

The 88 Reunion ROCKED!!! I did not smoke AT ALL...not even the e-cig!!! I had only 2 beers...and that was on the second night. Yeah, I'm pretty proud of myself there. : )

I honestly don't have the words needed to express how awesome it was. I'll let the pictures tell the story when I post them on my profile today. Everyone...and I do mean EVERYONE was WONDERFUL. The most amazing thing was that as soon as I walked through the door, all anxiety left me. I had a BALL!!! Couldn't wipe the huge grin off my face!!! Man, it went by too fast though!!!! I could easily do that for a whole week every year!!! Although I'm sure Uncle Aaron (that's what I call him...affectionately of course) would NOT agree. : )

Good luck with the interview Vicki. Everyone looked great on the slideshow and pics. Yeah our 20th didn't really even happen. Just a last minute deal at one of the games. I couldn't get away on such short notice. Oh well, maybe the multi-class thing or our 25th will be better.

Yeah the '85 Reunion was a bummer for those out of state. The pics look great of the Class of '88!

Aaron Wilson (1988)

Uncle Aaron?

01/20/09 05:04 PM #1615

Bridget Sterrett (Felstead) (1988)

Just to let everyone know that the Class of 88 reunion was fantastic. Aaron Wilson and his wife (Anita) made it possible. Not to leave out the committee members that worked hard also. We had the best time and the pictures don't even do the nights justice. It was great!!!!!! Thanks again Aaron!!!!! Our expectations for the next reunion are set pretty high!!!!!

I aint callin' him uncle.

or daddy...

or baby...

or nothin' of the sort.

Looking at the pics and that phenomenal slide show has really got me excited for our reunion. Again, great job to Aaron.

For the record, I hope I'm wrong about the gun ban, too. But as soon as we lose another supreme court justice, Obama will put a liberal in there and it WILL become a big issue again. Hopefully none of the conservative judges will retire or die in the next 4-8 years.

Finally got to go through the reunion pics. Looks like you folks had a great time!!! I am soooo looking forward to our reunion even more now!!!

OK...don't let anything kill the forum, y'all! Carry on!!!

Didn't get the job, but there are lots more opportunities coming soon within the bank.

I haven't had a cigarette or any other form of nicotine since 2:30pm on 1/21. NOT BAD. Hangin' in there. Thanks so much for the encouragement. It may get worse before it gets better!

Can you hear the crickets to? Good job and hang in there Vickie.
