You need more knock down power. You might as well carry a deuce-deuce or a .380 like the bangers. LOL!

A guy came to my door yesterday and tried to sell me an ADT Security system. I told him that I was from the South and used to leave my doors unlocked. He asked why or how we could do that. I told him that it was because the South is armed. (all the while I was replaying in my head the clip from Predator posted by Mark Avant). I didn't buy the system.

I can remember when I was a lot younger there was a game room north of town called the electric cowboy and there was one in town called the mouse trap.

The original Yellowjacket used to be THE place to pinball wizard. It also had great food. After it closed I believe they put the offices of the radio station there a few years later. When did they start calling the Daisy Queen the Yellowjacket? I guess I just always called it the Daisy Queen.
Chuck, we didn't lock our doors either. Not to mention our lockers at school. I told one of my friends (our age) out here about it and he couldn't believe it. It's just the way it was.

Um, is 38 too young for menopause? Or does my head want to spin in circles because of lack of nicotine?

Hmmmmmmmmm...or perhaps BOTH?????

Scary, huh??? : )

I'm sure it's a female thing Vic, prob not "the change" though. heh heh :}
Back to the old hang outs. I doubt if any of you young'uns remember the skating rink out on 270E where 46 turns off.
The building was there forever after it closed. I remember the feeling of still moving after you got home. And of course the juke box there blaring out The Who's Squeezebox over and over again.

The old skating rink on 270 was owned by Milburn Jackson, after the rink closed he opened that bait shop righr behind it. That building is still there but used by Direct TV

There was a huge fan in the corner and I was always afraid I was gonna skate right through it!

I remember that skating rink-it was tiny. We had a youth group skate there and we were lucky to fit our group in the building!

I also vaugely remember another rink they opened on 167 kinda across from what would be come the Midget Market. I think is was kinda like a big circus tent? Maybe I'm not remembering right but it was much bigger than the other one.

02/08/09 01:44 PM #1664

Mark Avant (1985)

And speakin' of circus tents, do your remember the" big" circus that would come to town. Wasn't it set up on the old Cliff Packer lot?

whats up all, I never went to the skating rink but i do remember people talking about it! What does Sheridan have now is there anything there to do?

This may be a bit obscure, but does anyone remember "Flash Trail"? And how it got it's name.

02/08/09 04:59 PM #1667

Jon Paul Anderton (1988)

There was a Rink that came just for one summer, it was across the road from the Midget Market in the lot beside Mad Butcher. Yes that Cicus was down where Cliff Packers car lot was, it was a pretty good size circus. Better than what they get to come to town every year now. Sorry don't know nothing about the Flash Trail.

Chuck Schwartz (1985)

Flash Trail? Never heard of it or I forgot it. I don't remember the circus but I remember the Grant County Fair at Oliver Williams Field. That was always fun to hit on a Friday after the football game. That whole experience was something out of a John Cougar Mellencamp song for me. Somebody mentioned a few posts earlier "The Electric Cowboy". For some reason that rings a bell. Wasn't that a game room? It seems like there was a place on Geyer Springs with a name like that.

Mark Avant (1985)

Thinking back on it, Jody might be the only one who knows about Flash Trail.

Hold it - HOLD IT - HOLD IT!!! :) Electric Cowboy, skating rink, The Yellowjacket, Flash Trail... too many memories to just throw out there like that without more explanation! I wanna know more! I only have a few recollections of some of those places: Electric Cowboy - finally convinced my dad to take me out there for a father/son night. So many games, so little quarters. Circus at Cliff Peck's Lot - I can still remember walking to the big top tent & seeing the burned out car hulls left from the fire that destroyed Peck's lot. As for the tent rink by Mad Butcher... I lived on the other side of Mad Butcher up on the hill & think I remember the tent & watching the skaters from in front of my house. Smitten with envy, I was. Flash Trail - no idea. Q: What does Sheridan have now is there anything there to do? A: Little Rock.

Speaking of arcades - last week I scheduled this this video to post today on the 88 blog. It's kinda old news though.
