Christmas memories? Hmmm, Let's see. I remember They would put me and Chris in my room at the end of the hall to make room for family and we could look under the door and see what "Santa" brought. I also got a bike one year when we actually had a white christmas. I tried to ride it on the snow and ice, but you know how that goes.

One of my favorite memories was making a Christmas Wreath. For as long as I can remember my Dad & I would go across the highway from his house and cut branches of off of a holly tree and take them back to the house. He would make a coat hanger into a round shape and get out the bread ties! (Mamaw always saves everything...) We would ties those holly branches on until our fingers were poked and bleeding! If you have never seen a holly tree, be careful when you do! It will certainly poke you! I really miss my Dad, those of you who have kids and haven't started a tradition, be it wacky or not, begin one this year! Someday the memories will be cherished and shared... like this. Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas memories - in the kitchen with my grandma making "treats". We would be in the kitchen early morning till after midnight. I never grew tired, just being with her watching and helping. She is greatly missed. I hope that everyone have a wonderful holiday.

My favorite christmas memorie started Christmas eve morning as soon as the sun comes up. We would start baking and cooking stuff for that night and Christmas day. We would not call anyone because we new what would happen if we did the first thing out of the person on the other end would be "Christmas Eve Gift" and the person who said it first would receive a gift be it white elephant or something special. This tradition has faded and it brings a tear to my eye to think that because we are not close anymore that we let things fade to the back ground. I am teaching my children this special family tradition.

Very nice. How many of you get both sides of your family together for the Holidays and how many go to seperate houses? I am trying to get the families together because that is how we did it when I was little. It is frustrating to me that my wife's family is like a seperate entity from mine. Especially when I don't have a lot of extended family left. It worked at Thanksgiving, but I fear the Christmas Eve tradition her family has will not meld with the Christmas morning tradition of my own.

Good luck with that David! I don't have the husband's family to worry about anymore, but I have my own split family. The only way I ever get them all together is to have my own thing on an off day. Like you could have a dinner for everyone at your house the day before Christmas Eve (or Christmas night), then do the seperate things for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. It makes it a really busy few days, but if it's important for you to have everyone together, it may be the only way.
And my favorite Christmas memory is making Christmas cookies. Well, actually mom would make them, we just got to decorate them. I still do it every year with my kids. Ok, not so much with the 18 year old, but the 7 year old loves it!

We only got to open 1 gift Christmas Eve and then got up at the crack of dawn to open up gifts. Playing with new toys all day and staying in pajamas untill noon time! I have kept that tradition up by letting my kids open 1 gift Christmas Eve, its ALWAYS new pajamas, and then started a new tradition by letting the "little ones" spread out reindeer food on the ground outside just before they go to bed. We also make cookies and leave out milk for Santa as well. As far as getting the family's together, we have always done this Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Although this year it is our 1st year without both of our family's except Jodys mom will be flying here so that will be great for the kids!

my favorite christmas memory is christmas eve after going to both sets of grandparents...my brother (dusty) and i could not wait to get home and into bed cause we knew santa would soon be here..for as long as i can remember dusty would always come into my room and make a pallet on the floor...so we could be together the next morning to see what santa brought...i can remember us talking and giggling over what we thought santa would be bringing us...whoever got up first would wake the other up...most of the time it was me getting up at the crack of dawn and then dragging dusty down the hall trying to wake him up...i started this tradition with my kids when they were little...they are now 16 and 14 (too old for santa-i know-but i still love to do it for them)...and on christmas eve they still make their pallets so they can wake the other one christmas morning...

Lea - I have my time set on standard at the top of the forum page. That may be where the discrepancy is.

Michelle -

We still do Christmas Eve gift phone calls on my fathers side of the family except we don't get the "gift". I am the reigning champion....I get up around 4:00 am and start calling. My sister Melissa thought she was going to win one year but I got up 15 minutes earlier. It is great......I love it. This year will be especially nice because my grandfather who is 90 is back home and looking forward to a wonderful Christmas.

Hi guys--wanted to let everyone know that Kevin Martin's wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please keep them in your prayers. This is a hard thing, but especially at the holidays.

Some of my favorite Christmas memories are when we would come to Sheridan for Christmas. (I didn't live in Sheridan until the summer before my junior year) My grandfather would give all of us a blanket and load us into his old hunting van, (which had no real seats or heat, definitly not a legal ride these days) and drive us around to look at Christmas lights. We would try and make up new lyrics to all the Christmas songs and we would be laughing so much at each other we would be crying. We had so much fun.

We also do "christmas eve gift" and have been since I can remember. We never actually get the gifts either, just bragging rights. We have gotten hard core! My 15 year old nephew thought he was going to pull a fast one and just "happened" to start texting me at 11:15 p.m....asking about what Mason (my son) was getting from Santa, when were we going to be at my moms...and wham...at 12:01 a.m. I got him. He was so disappointed! He thought he was being so sneaky! We've even corrupted the younger generations! :-)
I'll be praying for Kevin and is family as well.
