Comments:

I attended Sheridan College for a year, after high school, before deciding to remain home for my family. I worked as a counselor specialist and later as an AM program coordinator for Normative Services Inc. for seven years. I enjoyed what I did there working with the youth and took away many positive experiences with me, when I left for Boise, Idaho in 2003. I decided to continue in the field of helping others to better themselves by becoming a developmental therapy technician for adults with developmental disabilities. In 2005, I was promoted to administrative assistant for LIFE Inc. and have never looked back. Our company provides services (both center based and residential) for children or adults with developmental disabilities and only continues to grow. I am a volunteer for Special Olympics Idaho and have helped our company to develop and sponsor a Special Olympics track, basketball and volleyball team. I had the priveledge of doing security at the Special Olympics World Winter Games, where I met many dignitaries and athletes from around the globe. I enjoy time spent with family and friends. I recently moved to Denver, Co where I enjoy life with Derek, Jaden and Mariah.

School Story:

Funny memory...Wow, I'd have to say "big hair" in itself was pretty funny! I was definitely guilty of the case of Aqua Net a week. The rocker concert t-shirts, stone washed jeans and neon heels- definitely...funny.

Where else have you lived?

Sheridan was actually my second home. I am originally from Corpus Christi,Texas. I moved to Wyoming when I was 12. I also lived in Phoenix, Arizona and Gillette, Wyoming briefly.

What's your favorite vacation?

My favorite vacation was a trip to San Francisco in 2006. It was an 11 hour roadtrip from Boise. My husband, kids and I took a week to do all the "touristy" things down there- Six Flags in Vallejo, CA, Pier 31, Hard Rock Cafe, boat cruise to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Haight- Ashbury, cable cars, the beach... It was definitely memorable!

What's your dream vacation?

My dream vacation would have to be one to Egypt. I have always been fascinated with Egyptology and the mystery of the Pyramids and other artifacts and finds.

Do you still have family around Sheridan, WY?

Yes

How often do you get back to Sheridan, WY?

Since i have moved to Denver i hope to get back at least e ery couple months :)

Would you ever move back to Sheridan, WY?

Probably not.

What did you do right after high school?

Started a family with my "high school sweetheart".

What are the high points of your life since high school?

I feel blessed to work in field where I've made a positive difference in someone's life, both in Sheridan at NSI and in Boise at LIFE Inc.

What's the farthest you've been from home?

Florida or Mexico

What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

Trying to explain to my daughter (then six years old) that her dad had passed away.

What's the oddest thing you have ever done?

I have done many odd and off the wall things..most recently I'd have to say; dressing in 70's attire with two co-workers, dawning big afro wigs and bell bottoms and singing and dancing to ABBA's "Dancing Queen" during a talent show for the developmentally disabled clients of our company.

What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment in your life so far?

Raising three kids to become respectable, upstanding adults, (well almost adults)

What's your favorite memory of SHS?

I really miss Homecoming- it seemed like that was the one time where everyone came together. The clubs, the athletes, and even those students who normally weren't involved in anything, came out to be a part of the crowd at the game, parade, or pep rally.

What's your least favorite memory of SHS?

Loved Mr. Burgess, but hated the class.

What the biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at SHS?

Been able to walk with my class.

What's your favorite movie of all time?

Hard to say...

What is your favorite song(s) of all time?

I actually have many, but the one that makes me think of high school everytime I hear it is "Runaway" by Bon Jovi. There was just something about them starting out with that intense synthesizer solo!

Who is the most interesting or famous person you have met?

Barack Obama. He came to Boise during his campaign for the Idaho caucus, and many of us stood in line for hours in the frigid weather just to get a seat in the arena. I know there are many political views on Mr. Obama, but I have to say, standing there in his presence and listening to him...well, that man can speak and move a crowd to feel so empowered! I left thinking I could take on the world.

What is your current favorite t.v. show?

I don't really watch tv these days.

What's your favorite book?

The Memoirs of Cleopatra or Lone Survivor, the story of SEAL team 10

What are your hobbies or interests?

I love contact sports! I am a football junkie, both NFL and also attending as many of the university games as I can. I also enjoy going to hockey games and MMA matches. I love to go dancing with friends or just hang out on a Sunday afternoon playing a pick up game of softball. I hit the ice skating rink pretty regularly and the gym 5 days a week. I still enjoy painting and drawing whenever possible or enjoying the vast culture Boise has to offer of art museums, music venues, or poetry slams at local coffee shops. And I have recently discovered I like to sing or play the drums on ROCK BAND.

What's your biggest fears?

I really don't have many fears, but with the escalating situation in the Middle East, I do worry that my son may be deployed.

What's your biggest hopes?

I hope that people will learn to accept eachother despite our varied differences and not judge, for world peace, for parents to instill good morals, values, and how to respect others, in their children (I am often surprised at how many young kids don't know the meaning of the word RESPECT these days), that I continue to help create opportunities for growth and accomplishment for my children and the clients I work with and that they in turn will turn around and help others.

Are you interested in going to the 20th class reunion for SHS?

I think I want to, but I'll have to see when the time gets closer.
