Jimmy Childs

Jimmy died from a heart attack on 11/16/2003.

SHERMAN - Services for Jimmy Childs, Sherman businessman who passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2003 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 19 at Dannel Funeral Home.  Dr. Jim Pledger of First United Methodist Church will officiate.  Internment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

Jimmy was born on September 2, 1949, to James Dorman Childs Sr. and Betty E. Clark Childs in Denison, Texas.  He graduated from Sherman High School, where he was best known as the starting tailback for the Bearcats football team.  He attended ETSU and NTSU where he was a member of the Sig Ep Fraternity before he came back to Sherman to take over as the owner and operator of Child's Carpet on West Lamar in Downtown Sherman until his death.

He is survived by his two sons, James Dorman Childs III and Beau Cruz Childs of Sherman; two sisters, Patti Childs Badarack of Luella and Bettianne Kane of Howe; aunt, Belle Fryhover of Sherman; one nephew, Cory Wade Badarack; one niece, Caroline Clark Kane and cousins.

The family will be at Dannel Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2003.
