Obituary for Otis Eugene Drain Jr.
Whitesboro – Funeral Services for Otis Eugene Drain Jr., 68, of Whitesboro will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Jeff Schuckers and assisted by Rev. Jody Dyer. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation at the funeral home on Monday, November 5, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Otis was born on August 22, 1950 in Sherman, Texas to Otis Eugene and Mary Juan Dine (Scrivner) Drain. He married Brenda Phelps on May 14, 1982 and they were married 18 years prior to her passing in 2000. He was a member of the Cooke County Cowboy Church and the Kiamichi Wilderness club. Otis was a man who loved being outdoors, he loved to camp and hide away in his cabin up in Oklahoma, he loved coon hunting and frog gigging. He was a world class trader by heart, he loved to wheel and deal with people whether it was at a garage sale or selling cars as he did for 38 years. He spent his early years working in the pharmacy business for Mays Pharmacy in Sherman and for Mckesson-Robbins Pharmaceuticals out of Louisiana. Later in life Otis bought the Whitesboro Dairy Queen and there he settled into what he loved best, talking and dealing with friends and the Whitesboro community. Otis was a wonderful man, one who especially loved his family, this community and its people.
He is survived by his son, Jody Dyer and wife, Darci of Whitesboro, son, Chad Beale and wife, Edy of Frisco, daughter Shawndy Phillips Drain of Denison, son, Jared Drain and wife, Teresa of Denison, son, Otis Eugene Drain III of Denison, mother, Mary Drain of Sherman, sister, Brenda (Punkin) Drain, sister, Myrtle (Peanut) Reid, sister, Pat (Sister) Plumlee, sister, Judy Drain, grandchildren, Demi Martin, Darion Drain Graves, Kaylie Hendricks, Jake Dyer, Kaytlin Drain, Sevanah Shrum, Lillie Drain, great-grandchildren Amber Nichole Graves and Judah Cruz Martin.
Otis was preceded in death by his father, Otis Eugene Drain Sr., wife, Brenda Drain, son, Robert Bryan Young, wife, Kathleen Hudgins Beale, brother-in-law Melvin Plumlee and brother-in-law, William Reid.
The family wishes to thank Texoma Medical Center and Guardian Hospice for their care of Otis and a special thank you to their cousin, Tommy Cox, who was there for Otis every day. Tommy was more like a brother than a cousin.
