Our 50th Reunion weekend started off with a Friday golf tournament in which some members of our class participated and did very well. All monies gleaned from this tremendously popular event go to our Alumni Scholarship fund. We are proud that every year, the Sidney Alumni Association gives 6 to 8 scholarships to graduating Seniors.

A Friday evening ice breaker was well attended and gave us an opportunity to try to recognize former classmates, neighbors, teachers, etc. Especially gratifying was when we actually recognized someone from our past High School years without them giving us any hints!

Some of us arose early Saturday morning to venture on the Ed Roelle Walking Trail by the Susquehanna River. Our own Mary Anne Maynard Cramton heads up this Alumni event. Famished by our walk, we enjoyed a pancake breakfast at the Elk's Lodge. As the 50 year celebrating class, we were responsible for forming the March of the Classes. Led by Bonnie Provenzon Curtis (donned in a white graduation cap and gown), we well represented this celebrating class of 50 years by marching proudly in the Saturday morning March of the Classes at the newly named "Alumni Field" at the West Main Street High School. We all donned graduation caps complete with tassels, decorated our "Class of '59" banner and off we grandly marched.

Our roast beef and turkey buffet dinner at the Moose on Saturday night capped off an exhausting day. 54 classmates with 35 guests made a total of 92 at our dinner. All classmates were given embroidered hats or totes with "Class of 1959" on them, compliments of our Class. Dale Morrison designed the logo and embroidered all 80 items for us. A 50 Year Reunion Booklet was designed. editted and bound for the class by Bonnie Provenzon Curtis. This booklet included pictures (past and present) and a short bio of each class member.

The Sunday morning Memorial service was held at the Walking Trail by the Susquehanna River. Ginny CLum Tiska read the 18 names of the Class of 1959 deceased members. Many of us attended the Luncheon and Wall of Fame induction. Doug Sheldon heads up this dedicated committee and our own Carolyn Mang Weeks was inducted. We are proud of the fact that the Class of '59 has two members on this distinguished Wall with Jim Axtell being inducted in 2005.

It was a very satisfying weekend for all planners involved and we certainly look to our next Reunion in 2014. But there is already a rumor that we may celebrate our 70th birthdays at Alumni Weekend 2011!
