Doug Benson

In 2006, working with NHS graduate David Sager, started an independent record label specializing in classic jazz. Our first release, (a reissue of King Oliver's 1923 band) snagged David a Grammy nomination for his excellent liner notes!

The year: 1974. A bunch of us band nerds (led by the infamous Joel Friedman) physically moved Mr. Silantien's micro-mini Porsche into the band room. There was a line of students down the hall waiting to get in and take a peek. In retrospect, we probably could have made a few bucks selling tickets.
