After college (UNI-Cedar Falls) and grad school (Arizona-MSW degree), I decided to work for the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Tucson, AZ. and transferred to the VA in Fresno, CA. After several years, I accepted a management position at a psychiatric hospital in Fresno and then later moved to a Program Director's position at a non-profit agency. The program works with mental health clients who need wrap around services (counseling, medication, housing, case management, financial assistance) and is contracted with the county via state funds. Challenging but loads of fun as our program really does make a difference. I additionally work as a mental health therapist for an employee assistance program and also have a private practice. Busy, Busy. My wife's family is from the Fresno area and we love living in central California. Fresno/Clovis is 2 hours from Yosemite Natl Park, 2 hours from King's Canyon Natl Park, 3 hours from San Francisco, 4 hours from Los Angeles, and 3 hours to the beach. Our home is in the foothills to the Sierra mountains. Within an hour, I can go cross country skiing in the a.m. and return later to go bicycling in the afternoon. Crazy but true. Iowa and Sioux City will always be home for me but I'm sure I'll continue to live on the west coast for quite some time. My wife Joyce is a 2nd grade school teacher in Fresno. Our 11 y.o. daughter (Sierra) is an only child and we try not to spoil her. All of you parents out there know how special it is to have a child/children and so we're very involved with her school and activities. Sierra loves taking care of her cat and our 2 dogs. I hope everyone is doing well and wish everyone happiness!
Lots of good memories and friends from North. It's as if it were yesterday. High school was a great time. Go Stars!
