Cliff is now the Senior Pastor of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church. We spent 11 years in
Tanzania, East Africa, church planting among the Sandawe tribe. The Sandawe have a
tonal language which includes 3 clicks done 5 different ways, as well as glottal stops, etc.
We first learned the national language of Swahili, a Bantu language used more widely
in East Africa. Then we learned some of the Sandawe language. I have been busy in the
“Boone Wilderness Academy of Wisdom” homeschooling our 3 children. Samuel is now a
junior in the local high school, Lydia is finishing 8th grade in the Christian school that
meets in our church, and Sarah is finishing up 7th grade at BWAW. I am learning to design
and make quilts and just entered my first quilt challenge at the Allentown Art
Museum using their reproduction 17 & 18th Century English and French toiles.
What did you learn from SHS? I learned to love learning and love math. Sarah and I just
finished pre-algebra and are beginning algebra 1 (big thanks to all my math teachers
and to Rhoda). I also learned a lot from my English teachers. I remember making a poster
with a quote by Henry David Thoreau which said, “If a man does not keep pace with
his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer drumming. Let him
step to the music that he hears, however measured or far away.” I have thought of that many times in all of our adventures.

learning disabilities, autism, Asperger syndrome, selective mutism,
Tourette syndrome, and other mental health diagnoses.
What did you learn from SHS: First, I learned how to forge my mother’s name so
I could skip school and not get caught. I learned that even when I don’t see
my classmates for years, that when they pass away,
I miss them. Our class is
like a tapestry – rich with beauty, personality, and diversity, and each and
every person is a thread that completes the picture –
everyone special and necessary.
Funniest memory of SHS: There was the time that Scott Kirkbride was caught eating
a Reese cup in Jane Harper’s room, and he had to bring one for everyone in the class
the next day. I remember watching out the window one afternoon when I was a
sophomore to see Jimmy Willison chasing a drunk Lester Willis through the back yards.
Also, the time Coach Barnhart thought Mark Soliday threw something out the
class window (and he didn’t) and Coach got really mad and came storming
into the classroom, but he had on baseball cleats and could barely stand up,
let alone walk. He was furious and all we wanted to do was laugh at him.
Then there was the time we shoved Mr. Skeen into the girl’s bathroom and
wouldn’t let him out. And, of course, Senior Skip Day, when the bus stopped
at The Jug and we all trooped off the bus and bought beer for the
event. I also remember having to write an apology about that!

– can’t remember shit – so I don’t remember much!
Funniest memory of SHS: SHS was and always will be the only school to me.
When all of us majorettes were supposed to be at the Lynch’s house for a slumber
party, and we didn’t arrive till the wee hours. We definitely got in
trouble, right Rhoda, Tink, Cindy and Cinda?
Terry Gaiser: gaiser@earthlink.net

Dickson, TN 37055
Married to Joan Two boys – Geoffrey and Geordie., Two stepchildren – Bill and Lauren, age 24.
I have been employed as a school psychologist for Dickson County
Schools (located 40 miles west of Nashville).
What did you learn from SHS: One think I learned was that I didn’t want to become a
teacher and have to deal with smart-aleck students like myself. Another thing I learned
was that smoking cigarettes is bad for you, especially if you do it outside shop
class and your football coach finds out. I found out life can be unfair, as when
everyone in my football conditioning class was given a lick on the back
end because somebody (Stan Stewart comes to mind) was smoking up on stage.
Funniest memory of SHS: I really can’t think of a single funniest moment.
I know that tie spent in Cecil Rymer’s algebra class my freshman year was
NOT what I expected high school to be. I silently laughed my head off that
semester observing the audacity and antics of the upper classmen in there.
They were always doing something with/to his “Wang” computer. The freshmen
with me in that class learned well from the upper classmen and applied those
lessons to Mr. Key’s biology class the following year. I remember the day
someone scratched some foul language on the film strip he was showing to the
class and he didn’t even see it. Then there was the time someone put a feminine
hygiene item in the fish tank. At least once a week, a hose would fly off the gas
(or water?) feed where Mr. Keys would stand just as he was beginning instruction.
Finally, I remember near the end of class one day the male students decided to
stage a stampede for the door. We had the biggest laugh while falling on top
of each other (you just had to be there). I believe Mr. Keys retired from teaching the following year.

school with it while it was all bubbly.

What did you learn from SHS: That it really is one
of the best times of your life.
Funniest memory of SHS: I remember in Mr. Rymer’s class there
were girls (not from OUR class) that wore short skirts. They wouldn’t
keep their legs crossed or together and Mr. Rymer would to nuts. His
eyes batted faster, head nodded and he couldn’t even beat his
knuckles normally. And then there were the guys who jumped
out of the window when Rymer turned his back. One was even in
our class – do you know who it was?
Patty Johnson Pratt: sewstorm6@yahoo.com
Married to Leonard Pratt of Sistersville
Two daughters – Aunnia Leasure Brady and .Lacy Prat.I work as a self-employed seamstress and domestic engineer.
What did you learn from SHS: No matter who you are, what race,
how popular, how sports-oriented, or how much money your
family may have, every one comes out of high school equal. You
have to start from scratch to start a new life for your own
future. So while in school you need to treat everyone as much as
humanly possible with kindness and respect. You never
know you may find yourself needing that person later
in life and want their help. A smile is all it takes to brighten
someone else’s day and it costs you nothing…..

jam his leg down in the trashcan when he entered the classroom,
pushing down the papers. One day Brian Kapnicky and I filled
the trashcan with water and floated paper on top of it. Cecil
came in as expected and jammed his leg down into the can without
knowing it was full of water. I also remember being in Jeanne
Barnes’ chemistry class, and Stan Stewart and a lunch of us

Funniest memory of SHS: Numerous, including strange
things appearing in Mr. Key’s aquarium, 6-packs of
Strohs at the Ella Garrett, cruisin’ with Scottie in the
Grand Prix, hearing all about “vilwiges and twibes” in
Coach Barnhart’s class, hanging in front of the Pool
Hall (rack ‘em Timmy) hitchhiking to an overnight band
competition in Clarksburg, getting caught by the
chaperones and staying in a fleabag motel, expelled

Married to Connie Lynch. One son – Israe.
I am employed by Hensley Industries as an Aftercast manager.
I basically manage a production
unit which consists of 2 difference departments.
What did you learn from SHS: Perhaps the one thing I learned but didn’t r
ealize until I moved away, then came back, was that everyone
had a place. Sure there were popular groups and
unpopular groups, but when you came back and
saw everyone together it didn’t matter about grades,
touchdowns, or your current date, things were clearer
than every. Everyone was important, and everyone,
in some way, contributed to the identity of our
school. I also learned that you can’t
drink Old American whiskey with a kool-aid chaser without it coming out your nose later!
Funniest memory of SHS: Anything to do with Mr. Rymer,
such as our entire freshman algebra class when we
would take out the algebra cassettes and insert
rock ‘n roll. His car getting set on the curb EVERY
noon hour for weeks in a row. How about our senior
class trip when we stopped at The Jug and bought
booze. Stan’s cabin, Danny Stewart’s cabin,
McCoach’s Lane, coon hunting with Jeff Surface,
Danny Stewart and I drinking whiskey straight. You
remember Black Velvet and orange juice? Shit, I can
still puke just thinking about those days! I don’t think
I’ve had a drink of BV since. Ok, here’s the best: it’s
raining at the Paden City football game and everyone
has their umbrellas up. JB Phillips pukes up spaghetti
and wine on the umbrella of the guy in front
of him. About 10 other people
got sick too, but his hurl was the best.
God, as I think back, we had a great time.

was a theorem we learned in geometry, but it also “sums” up the class of 1975.
Funniest memory of SHS: I really can’t
pick out one funny memory, there are just too many.
We did know how to have fun.

I work at Pittsburgh Plate Glass as a chlorine loader.
What did you learn from SHS: I
learned I was lucky to have graduated from this school and I feel sorry for those that didn’t.
Funniest memory of SHS: I remember that we
used to lock Mr. Skeen out of his art class so
he’d have to walk around the school and enter through
another door. Then we started locking BOTH doors
. He eventually learned to take his keys with him
when he left the room so he could re-enter. I
also remember the time in Mr. Skeen’s
class that Bill Fletcher was messing around with a lighter
and caught JB Phillip’s new flannel shirt on fire.

I work for myself. I started cleaning for someone we knew
that that took off to working all the time. Now I’ve deleted most of my
cleaning and I’m doing interior painting, wallpaper,
and tile work. I set my work time around my kids’ schedule and
what I have planned.
What did you learn from SHS: What I DIDN’T learn
was algebra. It was hard to learn algebra when we were
listening to music instead. I guess by the time we
graduated I did finally learn where “Coaches Lane”
was! I do know that some of the friendships
you make in high school last forever.
Some are taken away from us by death, but they
are never forgotten.
Funniest memory of SHS: Does everyone remember
when Mr. Keys fished the tampon out of the fishtank and
didn’t know what it was? It laid on his desk for days!

Funniest memory of SHS: This was probably not funny
to him, but I remember Neil Williamson falling from the
second tier in the gymnasium to the floor. That was really
something. I also remember when Bob Minor

right to the floor. It was embarrassing then but funny now.

What did you learn from SHS: Be the best person
you can be. No matter how many times
you fail, get back up
and start over. Keep an open mind and follow your heart.
Funniest memory of SHS: I can think of several funny memories
that I laugh about, but to someone else they may
not be too funny – like when Coach Burns got pretty, shall
I say “toasty” in history class one afternoon. I can’t quite remember
whether it was Bill Fletcher or Tim Moore (maybe neither)
but one of them jumped out the window in algebra class.
Maybe someone can refresh my memory this next alumni weekend,
remember I wasn’t in class most of the time!
