Ricky Brush

In memory of Richard "Ricky" Brush, born September 22, 1945 in Slaton and died March 27, 2006, in the line of duty as Chief of Police for the City of Point Comfort, Tx. Ricky had been in law enforcement for 40 years, serving in many capacities and many towns. Starting out in Slaton as dog catcher, moving on to Post Police Department, from there he went to the Texas Highway Patrol, served as a Deputy Sheriff, and then Chief Investigator in the District Attorney's Office in Port Lavaca.

In May of 2008 his name was chosen to be put on the Peace Officers Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. for fallen officers. His name will also be honored this Sunday and Monday, April 30, 2011 and May 1, 2011 at the Peace Officers Memorial in Austin, Texas.

Ricky had 2 children of his own and then married Linda Wheeler McCauley on June 20, 1988, who had 6 children. He had 18 grandchildren when he died. Ricky was loved by all who knew him and is still terribly missed.

Thanks to Ricky's sister, Sandy Brush Self, for the photographs and information.
