SLATON (Special) Services for Jewel Kenney, 86, of Slaton will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Englunds Chapel with Jack Gordon, minister of Westside Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.

She died Monday, April 10, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 28, 1913, in Allen, Okla.

She married Leon O. Kenney on Aug. 13, 1935, in Amarillo. He died Dec. 25, 1992. She lived in Slaton since 1942, having moved from Levelland. She also lived in Lubbock. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She graduated from Texas Tech University in 1955 with a degree in education. She taught math for 20 years at Slaton in junior high school and high school. She retired from Slaton Independent School District in the early 1970s. She was a member of the Slaton Classroom Teachers Association and TSTA.

Survivors include one son, Earl Kenney of Vanclave, Miss.; one daughter, Mary Alice Kenney of Fayetteville, Ark.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
