Welcome to the Spencer High School Class of 1964 forums. Please press "Post Response" to participate in the discussion.  Note, this is a "forum"-- classmates and honored guests see what's posted in here.  So this is not the place to send sweet nothin's to your old girlfriends.  Do that in "Private Messaging".  Just sayin'.

One thing I do miss from MyFamily is that there's no longer the "Viewers" label to click, to see who's seen it, and when.

Thanks, John, for putting this together.  And it is great to see the many responses to our new site.

You betcha, Joyce.  Thanks for the tip on ClassCreator!

I still have much to do yet--figure out how to open more galleries, finish captioning the pics I took at reunion, and try to scrape up some good old stuff from MyFamily.com.  If anyone has pictures to post on here, I can help if needed.  Having a happy but cloudy 4th here in Minnesota.

Actually, there were a few very rare people who DID look about the same as their grad pix, but I regret it wasn't either you or me. But we have withstood the ravages of time pretty well... The gathering was good, it is always nice to see friends and recall fun times and generally catch up.

Just looked at the photos of Reynolds School being destroyed!  OMG!  What a blow.  Another piece of our history gone.  Is anyone else saddened by this?  I see in one of the photos that you can see an upstairs room.  I would swear it is either Miss Grieve's (Ol' Lady Gravy) office or classroom!  Thanks for posting, John.

If we're looking at the front of the building, from the west, The "gone" room looks like it was on the southwest corner of the building.  I know our fifth grade (Ms. Ann Heldt) was on the south side, so I'm hoping that's what I'm seeing.  I went to fifth grade at Reynolds only as a misplaced Lincoln school boomer.  So for the fifth grade memories of teachers and staff, I don't miss it much.  Good kids, though!  I met a few kids like you from the southeast part of town.  John Fieselmann's golden retriever, Taffy, used to come over and play ball with the boys at recess.  Her timing was great!

I am always surprised when an e-mail pops up for me.  Although I graduated from Spencer High with the Class of '64, I have never been back.  High school wasn't a great time for me - only because of personal issues and a sense of not belonging (again, only on my side - no one made me feel that way!).  The thing that most delights me is that even though I have had no contact, when I look at the list of names, all are still familiar to me!  So, I guess you all made an impact on me even though we did not establish strong friendships.  I'm glad you all stay in touch.  When I look back, it is always with a sense of longing and happiness that so many of you did establish strong bonds and stay in touch.  Thanks for keeping me on the e-mail!

Hi, everybody.  Tom Dillivan here.  I was just wondering how many of you, if any, view this site anymore?  Does anyone know if there is someone monitoring the site these days?  It seems that there's less and less participation, with no new pictures, new addresses, no updates on class members we've lost, etc.  I'm sure most of us have retired, moved to a retirement destination, etc. If this site is defunct, is there another site we're using that I'm not aware of?  Perhaps it's a case that a lot of people have unsubscribed?  Hoping to hear from some of you....any of you....WTD

I will take this opportunity, having finally found my password for the site, to share that my husband and I left Seattle in April, and are now living in Ann Arbor, MI.  Our daughter and her family live here, and our son and his family are in San Carlos, CA.  Best to all - Mimi Winslow

Tom, I read your post.  Yes, I for one am still on this class site.  In fact, I still get e-mail messages everytime there is a new post or birthdays.  I suspect many still do, but just don't respond.  I still love to hear about our classmates.  I get news sometimes about different ones, mostly in the class of "63 because my friend, Casey (Cleary) Rausch still corresponds with Jeanette Hughes and Barbara (don't remember her last name).  I know there have to be some of our fellow classmates who are ill or passed but I haven't heard.  Nice of you to reach out to us all.  I hope we hear from lots of folks.

Thanks, Mimi & Joyce for responding....hopefully we'll see some more posts.  Mimi, I hope this doesn't mean you're now bleeding maize & blue instead of black and gold, but it's nice to be close to the kids.  Joyce, the latest post the In Memory page goes back to 2018, so, yes, there have to be some updates there....I'm not personally aware of any, though.

Donna Hayden (Ohl)

My name is Donna Kay Hayden (Ohl now) - graduated in 1964.  I do get the emails and thank whoever sends them.  I do remember some of the names.  I was an absolute wallflower in high school.  Didn't get to know many students, and I'm sure they didn't know me.  I have never been to a reunion - for reason stated above.  That being said, I do tender a soft spot in my heart for Spencer High School.  I did attend some sporting events and even an occasional sock hop!  Mostly, I hung out with my horses!  Keep the site going, please.  and thank you!

Donna, nice to hear from you.  What grade school did you attend?

I still reply to some of the birthday posts, and I apologize when I miss some people. I don't do email on my phone so it takes me extra time to catch up. I do remember Donna Hayden and hope she remembers me too. I enjoyed my time in high school. I have stayed in contact with several of our classmates.

Hello all,

John Kiger here, on 12/30/2022.  I've received a request from Jim Fisher (shs 1961) to furnish a list of deceased classmates.  I do not have any information on this later than 2018.  Can anyone help us out?  I've heard in recent years, that Sue Hooven passed away, and recently Doug Jones (65) told me that Dennis Evans died of a bee sting.

Please send me a list if you have some additions to our 2018 list in this webpage.  ATTN:  My email is

jekiger21@gmail.com.  Thanks for your help.  Best to all of you in 2023.

John Kiger
