Lynne Fisher Chase Obituary
Lynne F. Chase, 79, of Mattapoisett passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with health issues. Her beloved husband of 51 years Russell "Chippy" Chase, Junior was at her side. Lynne grew up in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of the late Carole Lane Fisher and James Earl Fisher. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. After college Lynne moved to Mattapoisett and began teaching kindergarten at the Potter School in Dartmouth and later worked for several years at Liberty Travel.
Lynne was a friend to many and had many friends. She enjoyed her time playing mahjong, daily walks, and dining out. She was an avid reader. In summer she especially enjoyed take-out fish and chip dinners at Neds Point Lighthouse, eating ice cream at the town wharf, and having guests for cookouts on her patio by the pool. She enjoyed watching and tending the birds that frequented her many feeders. In winter Lynne and Chippy frequently traveled to Sugarloaf Ski Resort and nearby Sunday River in Maine. She felt her time assisting Seniors at the Sippican Health Center in Marion especially rewarding.
Lynne leaves behind two daughters, Amy Chase and her husband Tracy Lane Bradfield of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Sarah Rothschild, her husband Andrew, and her beloved granddaughter Cameron of Richmond, Virginia; a sister Marty Fisher-Blakeley of Eau-Claire, WI, a brother William Lane Fisher and his wife Mary of Merrill, WI and nephews James Fisher of Panama City, FL, Jonathan Fisher of Merrill, WI and Matthew Fisher-Blakeley of Eau-Claire, WI and their families.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mattapoisett Free Public Library.
Her memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 from 4-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Mattapoisett. For online guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com

For those of you that haven't heard Kent Oestenstad's daughter Amy died recently in Alabama.
Cousin Kathy Ellis Penkert has shared the following:
Hi, incase you don't know there will be a celebration of life for Amy Oestenstad at Oenota Park in Spencer on October 11 at 2:00 pm. Kent may be able to come...just depends on health. (Kent now lives in South Carolina)

We have ongoing expenses of about $300 per year to maintain an ad free class website dedicated to the Spencer High School Class of 1965 with our own domain name. While this may seem like a lot, if each member donated $10 we would be in great shape for several years. as it is if ten members donated $30 each we would meet our yearly goal. In the past these costs have been bourne by just a couple of classmates, but as we have all move toward retirement mode it makes sense to spread out the cost over more folks.
It's that time again, each Summer we are billed to renew our site and domain license. We humbly ask for the members of the class to step forward and donate. As I did last year, I will take the Donate feature down when our goal of $300is reached, it only took four days last year.
Please use Donation 3
Happy Birthday Joey. ????????

I had word from friend and classmate Kathy Ellis Penkert today that her husband Dan has entered hospice with incurable bladder cancer. She said he is resting comfortably, but can not communicate. Kathi shared that Dan probably has a week to live. If you are so inclined prayers for Kathy and her family are appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held after he passes.
Well it appears that the old adage, “Absence makes the heart grow founder of some one (thing) else may in fact be true. The website was down for about two months and now since it has been back up it has been used twice. It was down due to an error on my part, it cost me $250 to get it back up and running. That is in addition to the annual cost of $300. The donate to help with costs button is up on the left hand column. Suffice it to say that unless there is more activity on the site and some help with costs, I will not renew it next year. If any of you have thoughts of a 60 year reunion next year please take note.
