Steve Buckley

Profile Updated: June 28, 2009
Address: Highwood, MT USA
Spouse/Partner: Donna
Occupation: truck driver
Children (and grandkids?): Our son, Luke, graduated from MT Tech and is now office supervisor in water quality for the Bureau of More…Mines. He does things with computers that I can't tell you about because if I did then I'd have to....admit my total ignorance! and say that it's mighty amazing that he's so smart. He does all the bureau programing and developed the first water quality website in the US and...and...all that kind of stuff!
He and his wife Jennifer have blessed us with the 3 gkids already mentioned and grammie and grampie have died and are now living in heaven on earth!
I'll have to call my grand son and have him tell me how to post pictures...ya, him, too!
Taylor and Payton are sharp young ladies, too, and very cute...but then they all got their smarts and looks from their Grammie!
Hope to show you soon.

Current interests, hobbies, passions:

Am an ordained, non-denominational minister at a small community church here in Highwood, MT. sharing duties with others in the parish as my occupation keeps me away from home some weekends.
We have one son, a fine daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren, 14 y.o. twin granddaughters, and a rambunctious 9 y.o. grandson!
We were married when I was 19 and am now....58!
Still sing...have been a choir director; local men's group director that sang in churches and at the Sunday service for the local county fair:) and lead praise music at our little church.
My wife is a teachers aid at the school she attended here and loves working with the elementary students.

If you have grandkids, what name do they call you?

Grampie

Whatcha been doin' since '69:

Historically speaking, attended EWC (remember that one!) for two years, where I met my wife at a Campus Crusade meeting. Graduated from Whitworth in '73 w/ a BA in Social Science and an elementary minor and teaching certificate. Brief post-grad. studies in Ed. Psych. and 3 years of 4 hours a week in Biblical studies.
First real job was w/ Youth Help in Spokane...my worst habit was sunflower seeds and was not really able to be much help there. Floyd Wilks talked me into working at a produce company and stayed there for 10 years.
From there moved to beautiful downtown Highwood MT...east of Great Falls, and half way between Fort Benton and Belt...if you're trying to find us! Started out trying to get a Cafe going with family members, but when the old adage about working w/family kicked in and a custodial job opened at the local (only!) school I started a 21 year career there. Unfortunately when a teaching position became available, I was too valuable as custodian and wouldn't be considered.
During those 21 years, just Donna and I attacked the Cafe again and had a very good 3 years. The strain of keeping my full-time position, and getting our son off to college, became more than we could handle, especially when he got married and the twins showed up!!!
About 3 years ago now I resigned my postion, went to driving school and started driving a 'big' truck all over the lower 48 and western Canada, and more recently have been delivering USDA surplus foods to school hot lunches in MT only...which is great! Am home 2 out of 3 weekends and really enjoy the driving, the 'real' work, and getting to know the people.

Funniest Mead memory:

Singing directly into Bill Lobdell's ear to get him back down into pitch at the Spokane Men's Barbershop Choir...they were goooood and we were nervous!

Fellow classmate you were fondest of (and why):

Tom Wood and I were good friends. And I'd have to agree with Gene Peterson, to try to mention them all would be unfair to the special ones missed.

What's your biggest regret from your years at Mead High School?

There was serious fun had in those years leading up to the end of a decade...and four decades later I wished that I'd been smart enough to think more of others than I did and am hoping that our brief time together in June will be wisely spent.

Teacher who made the greatest impact on you.

Gene Fink and Duane Hartman...music and PE, my favorite subjects! Mr. Dunn and his help and mentorship with ASB our senior year.
