Where have 30 years gone?
I spent the first 3 years after school in Spokane working going to SFCC and partying at the State Line.
Got tired of that and joined the USAF. They made me an electrical power lineman. Served for 3 years in Germany and 6 1/2 years at Edwards AFB in CA with a 6 month trip in support of Desert Storm to Saudi Arabia.
After 10 years in the USAF I decided to take advantage of the force reduction in the mid 90's and let the USAF pay me to get out.
I moved to North Carolina, where my mom lives and got a job as a contractor for the local power company.
I did that for 5 years and kept talking about using my GI Bill so I quit and went back to school. Got my AAS in computer Science just in time for the dot com bubble burst when so many programmers were out of work. Decided to go back. I then found out my 2 year degree would not transfer to a unversity so I went back and got an AS. Transferred to NCSU and earned my DB in computer Science.
No one seemed to want to hire a 40 year old to an entry level position so I moved to Florida where I lived before moving to Spokane in the mid 70's. An uncle of mine helped me to get a job at a mortgage company n the shipping deptartment.
The mortgage company was bought by a major international bank who ended up closing the mortgage origination side when that bubble burst.
By that time I had moved into the data analytcs side and so I am still there.
So, there in a nut shell is where 30 years have gone.
