Connie Hefte was born January 29, 1948, the last of four daughters (Twylla, Saundra, Bonnie, Connie) of Alvin and Isabella (Mitchell) Hefte of Otis Orchards, WA. There they ran a large tomato farm until they made enough to start a construction business. As a young girl, Connie showed horses, was active in 4H, sewed, and took dance & piano lessons. She graduated in Ferris High School's first graduating class of 1966, then attended WSU for three years. In 1969, Connie and Roy Meye were married. Roy's work as a Washington State Patrol officer took the couple to Colfax, Arlington, Granite Falls, Reardan and Davenport, WA. The Meyes had three daughters, Tammy (1970), Terrisa (1971), and Tracie (1975). Over the years Connie worked as a clerk in the Lincoln County Treasurer's office, as a piano teacher, and as a church pianist/organist for several churches. She also served as church treasurer for Davenport Methodist and Assembly of God churches. After the Meyes divorced in 1999, Connie worked at Welcome House and Evergreen Nursing Home in Sandpoint, Country Land in Newport, Crystal Mountain Adult Home in Spokane and was accompanist for the Inland Northwest Men's Chorus. She found long-term employment at the Spokane County Treasurer's Office, followed by a shorter stint with the County Clerk's Office. Connie was a passionate pianist and organist. In November 2002 Connie and Steve Myers, a retired Lutheran Pastor, married and moved to their happy home in NW Spokane. Connie and Steve enjoyed traveling, visiting Mexico several times and Scotland, plus short B&B vacations to Canada. (Connie had visited Scotland three times with her mother.) Connie was always busy. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, as well as a participant in various walks for MS and Alzheimer's. She was an excellent seamstress. She made friends wherever she was. Her work-passions were both her friends and customer service, to which she was dedicated. A great love of hers has been the PEO sisterhood, a women's organization dedicated to the education of women, including the operation of Cottey College, a two-year school in Nevada, MO. She has been a member of Chapters N/Davenport, AE/Priest River, AI/Spokane, and EW/Spokane. After Thanksgiving in 2008, Connie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. On June 9, 2009, Connie Myers died, and was led by Jesus to God's place.
