Survived By: She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; sisters Janice, Dorothy, Marianna, and brothers Phillip and Bruce. She is survived by sisters Helene Scott in Olympia, Enid Nuechterlein in Spokane; son, Michael Major in Spokane; granddaughters Kammy Major in Seattle, Jenna Major and her life partner Allison Smith in Spokane and Michelle Rhiannon Wilkes and her husband Philip Wilkes IV; and great-grandsons Philip V and William "Billy" in Davenport.

MAJOR, G. Winifred "Winnie" Passed away Thursday morning September 8, 2011. Born June 26, 1919 in Galata, Montana to Carl P. Johnson and Aaste Marie Johnson. She was the seventh of eight children with five sisters Janice, Dorothy Helene, Aasta Marianna and Enid and brothers Phillip and Bruce. She grew up in Spokane where she graduated from North Central High School and attended Kinman Business College. In 1952 she married William "Bill" P. Major and on her birthday in 1953, she gave birth to their only child, Michael. She spent most of her adult life as a secretary, working at Ferris High School from the first day they opened until she retired in 1982. She also took time out along the way to be a Den Mother while Michael was in Cub Scouts. Published on 9/18/2011
