PRAETORIUS, Julie Ann (Age 30) Leaving us much too soon, our beloved Julie Ann passed away suddenly on June 18, 2007 in Spokane, WA. She was born on March 8, 1977 to Jeff and Barbara (Drury) Praetorius in Spokane, where she lived the majority of her life. As a tot, Julie was as lively and vibrant as they come (in tune with the pretty red locks she was blessed with). She had a love of music from the start, and always enjoyed telling jokes and playing games. Her aunt Cheryl recalls playing hours and hours of Julie's favorite two games with her when she was a youngster: Shock - (touching each other after walking back and forth across a carpeted room in our socks) and Store - (taking turns pretending to buy and sell items in the house. Julie would say "I want that cashier job when I grow up because they get all the money!"). A bright and well-liked student, Julie attended Lidgerwood Elementary, Garry Middle School and both Rogers and Ferris High Schools. Following her schooling she enjoyed employment at the YMCA caring for pre-school children. Due to her great love of animals, Julie had many pets throughout the years, including her poodle "Sammy", several furry felines, a hamster and numerous fish. She thoroughly enjoyed her visits to Spokane's former Walk in th Wild Zoo and taking pictures of their many unique animals. Her grandma Betty recalls that when she was around seven or eight years of age she even carried her two goldfish in their bowl on her lap when she traveled by train from Spokane to Seattle with her Nana (grandma Drury). Julie had a knack for making special gifts and cards for family and friends, and was a big help in offering her assistance during family celebrations. She liked to join family members when participating in several fun runs or walks in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Green Bluff, Loon Lake and Wallace, ID. Around 1995 Julie enjoyed an adventurous trip to Minnesota with her step-grandma and step-aunt to attend a family reunion. She was glad to have had the experience and also to fly for the first time. Julie enjoyed telling people about this big trip she'd taken, but her eyes especially sparkled when she talked about her three adorable children. Julie's journey was a difficult one since being diagnosed with mental illness some 13 years ago, always looking for acceptance, understanding and love. She tried her best to cope with the many limitations she was dealt with, and was quite thankful to the family and friends who stuck by her through the rough times she encountered. Thanks to you, too, Julie for being a part of our lives for as long as you were able. We will remember, love and miss you always. Published on 6/28/2007
