Leslie Bartman - Class Of 1969

Ms. Leslie Bartman, age 55, of Jonesboro, GA passed away on September 22, 2006, after an almost six year battle with cancer. She is survived by her parents, Gilbert and Marilyn Bartman of Alpharetta, GA; sisters, Michelle Kendrick of Cumming, GA; Stacee Flanagan and brother in law Terry of Sandy Springs, GA; brother, Neil Bartman and sister in law Clystia of Dacula, GA. Nieces, Andrea Jones and her husband Hans, and Kelly Weir; nephews, Brandon Weir and Skylar Yancey; great nephews, Patrick and Spencer Jones and close friend Drusilla Nagle of Jonesboro, GA. Leslie was a 1969 graduate of Joel E. Ferris High School in Spokane, WA. She attended the University of Washington and graduated from Seattle University in 1973 with a degree in Medical Records Administration. After stints as Director of Medical Records at then Clayton General Hospital and Ridgeview Institute she went on to start her own medical transcription company. She also taught a Medical Transcription Course at Clayton College. Leslie's avid love of animals led her to create a non-profit organization called Creature Teachers, speaking at Churches, Daycare Centers and Elementary Schools, educating young people on proper care for pets. Along with her therapy dog Kipper, Leslie visited with nursing home residents. She also adopted or rescued many of her other pets. She served on the Clayton County Animal Control Board and was a volunteer at Zoo Atlanta. Interment will be a private family service at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. A memorial service and reception for family and friends will be held at Temple Kehillat Chaim, 1145 Green Street, Roswell, GA 30075 on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 3:00 P.M.
