Tobias Looper - Class Of 1996 VIEW PROFILE

July 6, 1977 - July 7, 2013 Toby died suddenly last Sunday, July 7th, 2013, the day after his 36th birthday. He was at the beginning of his favorite hike at the family lake home in Coeur d'Alene with his best buddy, his dog Daytona when he suffered a massive heart attack. Despite the best efforts of passers-by who performed CPR and who happened to be neighbors and trained medical professionals and then the EMT's, Toby didn't make it. Toby is survived by his beloved wife Erin Dresler-Looper, 3 cats and Daytona, of course (who was a hero in the story), his mother and stepfather Anne & Richard Hoesly (who was a real son to him in his heart); Michael Looper of California (who loved him dearly); his brother Graem Wyatt Looper of Seattle and his newly married sister Lauren Looper-Jansen Van Vuuren and her husband Wayne of Juneau, Alaska (all of whom looked up to him). Also surviving is his grandmother, Eila Parviainen of Burnaby, Canada; his beloved Auntie Tuija Wilkening and husband Paul and Cousin Christopher; Uncle Andy of Spokane; Auntie Eija Silver; Uncle Scott and Cousins Kaelja and Kirsten. His in-law's Patricia and Gary Dresler, Brother in-law Micheal Dresler, Brother in-law David Dresler and wife Lisa, nieces Lydia and Kyra Dresler, and sister in-law Mary-Hope Lakin and husband Ryan. Toby was born on 7-6-77 in Spokane, was raised here, attended Ferris High School graduating in 1996 and was married here to the love of his life. Toby was a devoted son, an amazing brother to Graem and Lauren and a deeply loving, gentle, dedicated, respectful, compassionate, trustworthy husband. He was a hard worker who was striving for a great future with Erin. Helpful and caring Toby was always at the ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends with packing and moving, fixing, mending, digging, building, babysitting, handing over a wrench if your head was under the hood or just laughing or crying with you and, of course, playing hard as well. Toby loved this life, his family, friends, animals and the outdoors life. He loved nothing more than hiking and camping with his buddies and with Daytona his faithful dog. Toby even enjoyed snow-camping (BRRRR!). He loved and appreciated a well built and beautiful classic car. Let's not forget, his love for a fine tequila! Heaven's welcoming committee most certainly included those on his maternal side, Grandfather Seppo Parviainen; Great Grandfather, Antti Juvonen; Great Grandmother, Aino Juvonen; and on the paternal side, Victor and Florence Looper. Erin's maternal grandfather, James Henry Miller may also have been there to welcome him, and whom Toby had previously and mysteriously met through Erin (inside joke between Erin & Toby). Tobias Kai Looper left this beautiful world and all of us way too soon. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Sunday July 21st at 4pm. Services will be held at the Southside Community Center 3151 E 27th avenue, Spokane WA 99223. Toby and Erin's dear friend Barry Moses, who also performed their wedding ceremony, will be the officiant.
