Wesley Mascher

Wesley M. Mascher, 66, died at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ, on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was born in Spokane, WA and served in the US Navy for 11 years covering the Vietnam War. He attended Gonzaga University in the area of Mechanical Engineering and received a BA Degree in Natural Science/Math from Thomas Edison State College. Mr. Mascher retired as a teacher of Chemistry and Physics from Carteret HS in 2008. During his teaching career, he received three Who's Who in American Teacher Awards. He was dedicated to his students. Prior to teaching, Mr. Mascher had a varied career as a CATV Field/ Construction Engineer for 13 years and also Tractor Trailer driver for 5 years. After Retirement he did private tutoring and substitute teaching. Mr. Mascher spent 29 years breeding, and showing Arabian, Half Arabian and Pinto Horses. He won many awards for his skill and his horses. He worked with Boy and Girl Scout Groups with his horses as well helping them to achieve an understanding of the equine world.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Burgess Mascher and his 2 children and a brother, Louis Chandler and sister- in-law, Connie and a niece and nephew, Pam and Marty.

Family will receive friends on Monday November 28, 2011from 4-8pm at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2011 at 10:30am at the funeral home. Interment will follow to Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ.
