Barbara Louise (Maxey) Johnson was born October 10, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jeanne Margaret (Pope) and Leonard Woodraft Maxey. She passed away July 25, 2013 in Sammamish, Washington. She is survived by her loving husband Don, daughter Kristine Meyer and many other family members and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Though we attended different elementary schools, our families knew one another, especially our mothers. Besides school activities (drama, in particular), we were part of the avid skiiers riding the weekly ski bus to Mt Spokane for lessons and making as many runs as possible down the mountain. Heading off to different colleges and to life careers, marriage, children, we lose contact with each other. I'm saddened to hear this belated news - thank you for the In Memoriam email.

Barbara seemed so intellectual and clever to me when we were growing up. I always pictured her becoming a great literary giant or critic. Although we lost touch after high school, I knew she was destined for a wonderful and happy life. She was such a kind, generous person; I can't imagine her with less than a happy life and a loving family. Rest in Peace my friend!
