I don't think many people at LC ever had the opportunity to know Christie.  She was a very loving, considerate friend.

Chris started her high school career at Ballard in Seattle, and then her father was transferred to Spokane. She had rheumatoid arthritis when we were in high school and used to have to get gold shots in her knees. I can remember times when her hands were cramped with the arthritis, yet you never heard her complain.

Chris married and had two sons. She became a single mom and started supporting her sons as a butcher. Going in and out of the cold storage caused her arthritis to flare, so she quit that job and started an in home day care. She was the kind of day care provider those of us who are parents would have loved.

When her mom became ill with ovarian cancer, her dad asked her to move in with them to help him care for her. Chris gave up her home and the business she loved to do that.

Chris and I had lost contact through the years, and when Classy Reunions located her for our 30th reunion, she coerced them into giving her my phone number.

We rekindled our friendship in April that year when she invited  my girls and me to her cabin on the North Fork of the Snoqualamie River. This began a relationship of back and forth visits and great times, building great memories.

After both of her parents passed, Chris sold their home on the golf course in Renton and bought a quaint home in Wilkeson, WA.

Chris was a very talented, creative person. She loved making porceline dolls and sewing the clothes for them. She gave each of my girls a doll she had made and they treasure them.

Chris became a very important person in the lives of my girls and myself. I still miss her and wish more of you would have had the opportunity to know this wonderful, loving, creative woman.

Jeannie,

I remember seeing Chris with you.  I didn't know her well.  It was nice of you to write about her to help me and others know her better.

Janet
