Luther M Hintz (Luther M. Hintz)

Chuck was the first friend I made when my family moved to Spokane in the third grade.  He lived about a block from our school, Franklin.  His mom, Louise, was our Cub Scout den mother.  She often made lunch for Chuck and me - usually toasted cheese sandwiches and Campbell's Cream of Tomato soup.  Still one of my favorites.  Chuck and were fast friends throughout grade school, high school and freshman year of college and beyond, spending many weekends water skiing at Priest Lake.  He was a great friend and I will never forget him.

Rest in peace Uncle Charlie.

At Franklin, Chuck was a part of the 15th/16th/17th Avenue pack, as all of us lived so close to the school.  Sad to lose a member of our mischievous clan.

So sad to lose one of our good buddies from childhood!!  What caused his death?

Chuck was a very dear friend and I am so sad to learn of his passing. We were very close through high school and the first couple years of college, going to the proms and so many other school events together.  As a Ti-Girl riding the game buses, I can still hear him, loud and clear, playing the LC fight song on his trombone right next to me! And, like Luther, I spent many hours skiing with him at Priest Lake in the summers.  “Chuckles” was a very good man. I look at his graduation picture and am flooded with all the memories.

Chuck and I became better friends after we graduated from LC.  For several winter quarters we shared an apartment in Cheney while attending EWU.  After I got back from Vietnam and finished college, I used to visit Chuck and his wife, Sue, as they started their family in Redmond.  He went on to a very successful career in the Seattle area and then retired to Twin Lakes, ID.  A few years ago I ran into his older brother, Ron, who told me Chuck was dealing with COPD.  We were never able to get together personally and only talked a few times by phone.  He was a very nice and kind man.

Chuck and I became better friends after LC, and shared an apartment in winter quarters while attending EWU.  He was a successful businessman on the westside, then retired and moved to Twin Lakes.  Ran into his brother, Ron, who said that Chuck had COPD.  We talked a couple times on the phone, but unfortunately never got a chance to meet again in person.  He made a mean grilled cheese sandwich when we were college roommates.   Rest in Peace
