Neil M. Snoddy
(November 22, 1944 - May 20, 2013)

Neil McAdam Snoddy was born November 22, 1944 in Spokane WA. His heart stopped beating on May 20, 2013 in Sandpoint Idaho. His Funeral Mass will be held 11:00am Tuesday May 28th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint ID, with Father Dennis C. Day, officiating. The Rosary will be held on Monday May 27th at 7:00pm also at St. Joseph’s. Inurnment with military rites will be conducted at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Neil’s love of aviation began before he was old enough to reach the pedals. He pursued this love through careers starting as a flight instructor from a dirt strip in Cheney WA and includes Manager of the Beech Aero Club in Van Nuys CA, from there, he went on to become a corporate pilot in Eugene OR, Spokane WA, and Sandpoint ID, as well as flying Forest Fire Patrol, and FedEx Caravan . He retired in 1997 where he enjoyed watching the Sandpoint Airport air traffic from his home on Lake Pend Oreille. His love of aviation inspired his daughter to become an airline captain.

Neil attended Gonzaga Prep and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1963. He enlisted and served in the U S Army from 1963-1965. He received a BA from Eastern Washington State University in 1971, and MBA from University of Oregon in 1973.

Neil’s retirement interest included competitive snow skiing, Toastmasters, boating, and mental health advocacy.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Amber Snoddy, his two daughters Deon Ridenour of Minneapolis MN and Denise Snoddy of Sandpoint ID, his half-sister Dona McBride of Colorado Springs CO. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Calie Snoddy and his brother Gareth Snoddy.
