Steven Johnsrud
Two years of freedom have passed so quickly. I am now a full-time student at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, California, and also work there part-time for the Adative Learning Division and for Dean Gertrude Gregorio, who hired me. I enjoy my new apartment in cozy Mountain View, CA, just down the hill 3 miles from Foothill's campus. I have the easiest community of anybody in the Bay area. Many kids drive from San Jose or even San Francisco to school each day.
My writing is expanding into new genres. Presently I am writing a book, The Shepherd's Face, and am often awake at 4:00 and at my desk. For seventeen years I was a regular correspondent with Henri J.M. Nouwen, author of 40 books on spirituality, and he greatly influenced me. Now I am following in his footsteps with Shepherd.
I have also been invited to apply for the Knight Fellowship in Journalism at Stanford, and am busily filling out all the extensive paperwork. Even the chance to apply has been a blessing. Who knows where I'll be next year! Stanford is just up the road, El Camino Real, about five miles from my place.
