All that glass in one building; loved it. It was modern, open, and as a follower of Frank Lloyd Wright...it fit right in.
My senior year was spent at Parkview, but I attended Central High School for the previous high school years.
Anna O'Brien, Cooperative Occupational Education: I appreciated her style of teaching in a class that I thoroughly enjoyed which included education and work related job.
Bob Chastain, Applied Arts: This teacher allowed me to do whatever art projects I wanted, and I appreciated his instruction.
I can't think of any right now, but however from reading my notes written in my l959 Annual, I must have had some embarrassing moments.
My favorite song was the "Great Pretender" by the Platters; and all of Elvis Presleys' songs.
My favorite car was a light green 1950 Ford Coupe... driving it from Big Boy's Drive In down Glennstone into Taylors and back. And any chance I got to go anywhere, just so I got to drive.
Hair turned grey; wider in the middle; and I can't run as fast. A wise man once said that youth was wasted on the young, but I don't agree with that...I feel that in my younger years I did the best I could.
After graduation from Parkview in 1959, I attended SMS in Springfield. Thereafter I joined the Air Force and went to Lackland and Amarillo, Texas, for training. I was stationed 4 years at Glasgow Air Force Base, Montana, on F 101 Voodoos. After the service I went into management service for convenient stores, and worked with Super America, Town Pump and 7/11. I spent l5 years with Cenex/Land of Lakes managing commercial fertilizer plants, and retired from there in 2005.
Most exciting was a ride in the back seat of a two-seater F 101 Voodoo fighter airplane flying faster than the speed of sound!
Most interesting and special was the birth of my two daughters.
In retirement I am an AARP volunteer Instructor for the Drive Safe Program. Also gardening, woodwork, and vacationing. Also I am involved in my church.
I would like to rebuild another l950 Ford Coupe, and attend my 50th Class ReUnion.
I am looking forward to seeing my Class of l959 friends in September.
I enjoyed building and driving hotrods during my high school years, and I still do to this day. I have good memories about the friends I had at Parkview.
