I remember wonderful friends, Lassie Drum Corps, and really warm classrooms in our hoops, crinolins, and waist cinchers.
All the teachers were kind. The first ones that come to mind are Mr. Spence, Mr Lewis, Mrs. Cowan, Mr Sheely, Mrs. Griffin, and Mrs Lewis.
Driving Tom's car into Table Rock Lake or, let's say, "watching" Tom's car roll into the lake. I distinctly remember parking and locking the car on the incline at Indian Point. Has anyone ever tried to unlock a car as it gains speed on the decline? Unfortunately, there was a new boat anchored at the exact point of entry. Ronnie Pearce and Clara Lane were witnesses. The funniest part, now, is remembering Tom's explanation on the phone to his Dad.
All the 50's songs were great! "Put Your Head On My Shoulder", by Paul Anka. "Unforgettable", By Nat King Cole. "Moonglow", and the theme from "Picnic".
1958 little red Vauxhaul. It wasn't much larger than a smart car. Favorite destinations: Taylor's Drive Inn, Gilloiz Theatre and Table Rock Lake.
Instructor in the business department at MSU (then SMS), elementary school teacher in New Jersey and Kansas, and the SBA.
Family is the greatest experience and adventure. I've always believed I had the best parents and best husband. "Motherhood" and "Memehood" are an answered prayer. What an absolute joy it is to play with our three granddaughters. Wonderful trips to Hawaii and Europe with friends. Having Ronald Reagan kiss me on the cheek and recite the "Old Irish Prayer" ranks right up there, too. You know the one: "May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
My greatest joy is time spent with family and travels with Tom.
Live long enough to see our children and grandchildren lead rewarding and successful lives....and....long enough to see the United States Of America preserved as we once knew it so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy the freedoms, the opportunities, the safety, and the health that we have enjoyed.
