Friends - from "daylight 'til dark" in a brand new modern building with wall to wall windows!
Miss Helen Johnson - Dramatics - She had such a passion for her field and it was contagious.
While taking a World History test in Jody Holden's class, I took off my shoes and pushed them under the chair. At the end of the class my shoes were gone. I remember being so embarrassed (why I don't know) and turning beet red. Finally, Mr. Holden laughed and pulled them out of his desk drawer and I didn't have to go barefoot from his class. I can't believe something like that was so shocking and humiliating to me!
"Moments To Remember" - The Four Lads. Also, loved The Platters, Johnny Mathis, and Nat King Cole. I think I was a "romantic" and I loved all the "sappy" songs.
Whatever car was available - - and where else but Taylor's and Fisher's Hi-Boy - Also loved to head out for LindenLure. (preferably in a convertible)
I hope I have grown a little wiser, and more tolerant and compassionate as you realize the world doesn't revolve around you and your friends. Basically I am very much the same - I can still OUTEAT all my friends!
My first job came after our three sons were all in school. I worked three days a week putting together ads for our local newspaper in Garnett, KS. After 18 months, I moved on to part-time work with an insurance agency. I guess I got hooked as I got my license and became an agent. When we moved to Topeka in 1987, I joined Capitol Federal Savings as the producer for their agency until my retirement in 2007.
I will have to think on that one. I really live an ordinary life as an ordinary person in an ordinary midwestern city. BUT my grandkids are anything but ordinary - and they are always exciting and interesting!
Simple things bring me pleasure - such as reading a good book, seeing a good movie, going to Jazzercise and lunch with the gals - I told you I was ORDINARY! Truly, my biggest thrill is watching my grandsons' sports activities. You will see (and hear) me at the ball parks, football stadiums and gyms all year long.
Have a girl in the family - - my only hope is a great granddaughter in the years ahead!
My working days in the business world are over but I continue to do a lot of volunteer work with my church.
