Two of my colleagues at Hood-Rich were Ray West (Hillcrest class of 61) and Paul Black (class of 65). Ray is a civil engineer and was my immediate superviser for most of my time at H&R. We worked togather mainly on municpal water and sewer systems and sewage treatment facilities for smaller communities in SW Missouri. Ray started to work at H&R two weeks ahead of me in June of 1969. I had just graduated from Then SMSU.
Paul is a civil engineer doing the structural engineering for the architectural projects. I retired this past May. Ray and Paul are now retired. Ray got a football scolarship to Missouri University and played in at least two bowl games the Bluebonnet Bowl and the Sugar Bowl. In the Sugar Bowl Missouri beat Florida and Heisman trophy winner Steve Spurrier.

While in the Army I spent a year in Vietnam (Sept. 1966-67). I was a technical illustrator in Army Headquarters adjacent to Tan Son Nhut airbase and later at Long Binh.

Travel:
Two of our children have lived and worked in foreign countries. Aldine and I have been able to visit them in London, Tijuana, Mexico City and New Zealand. I went on a medical mission trip to Nicaragua in January 2015 with Project Hope. All of my children and myself have now been to Nicaragua. I made the trip on behalf of Aldine and myself.

I enjoyed Mr. Birmingham's American history class. Anyone who had a class with him knows how periodically he would diverge and expound on other subjects, sometimes at the behest of his students. Nevertheless he was a skilled teacher and motivator and one of my favorite teachers. I learned a lot about American history and other things.
