Cynthia's Obituary

North Springfield.

Cynthia M. Shippie 84, died at her home on June 20, 2025. She was born May 6, 1941 in Springfield, Vermont the daughter of Everett S. and Alice ( Eaton ) Morse. She attended Springfield Schools, graduating from Springfield High School class of 1959, and in 1961 graduated from Nursing School as an LPN.

Cynthia worked at the Hospital in Springfield, Vt., and transferred to the Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts where she met Leland G. Shippie ST1 USN while he was home on liberty from his ship. They were married on December 12, 1964 at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, Vt.

They made their home in Portsmouth, RI for 30 years. After retirement from Raytheon SSD they moved to West Windsor, Vt where they lived for 20 years, relocating in 2011 to North Springfield, Vt.

Together, they built a life rooted in dedication and care, balancing professional commitments with the joys and responsibilities of family. Cynthia’s compassionate nature and steady presence earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike, while her warmth and kindness filled her home. She cherished time spent with loved ones, celebrating milestones and simple moments with equal delight.

She is survived by her husband Leland G. Shippie, brother Cleon Morse, son Mark E. Shippie, daughter Jennifer I. Jenkins, and two nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents and an older brother Earl.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, on Saturday July 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow in the Sheddsville Cemetery in West Windsor, Vt.
