John Peterson

 John T. Peterson Sr., 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at the Springfield Health & Rehab. Center in Springfield. He was born May 20, 1940, in Springfield, the son of George T. and Annie (Kazak) Peterson. He attended Springfield schools, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1958. He was employed at Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, before relocating to the Carolinas, where he lived his adult life and worked for many years in the plastics industry. He was a life member of Springfield Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1560. He enjoyed living in the South, but enjoyed returning home to Springfield on vacations. He also enjoyed playing golf at Crown Point Country Club in Springfield, and playing in the Member/Guest tournaments over the years. Survivors include three sons, Bradley J. Peterson of Arizona, and John T. Peterson Jr. and Jason K. Peterson, both of the Carolinas; one sister Lydia Dzewaltowski of Colchester; two brothers, Alfred G. Peterson of Nantucket, Mass., and Edwin L. Peterson of Springfield; several grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents George and Annie Peterson, and by his brother Elwin L. Peterson. A graveside service will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Springfield, Vt. in the spring of 2012, followed by a celebration of life service, and will be announced at that time. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Towers, c/o Springfield Elks Lodge #1560, 49 Park St., Springfield, VT 05156. Gerry Piper officiating and followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Springfield Elks on Park Street. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.
