God Bless Nelly. I will never forget when she first came to this country. I believe we were in the second grade. She immediately assimilated into our society and learned our language very quickly. She seemed a bit sad, but her classmates including myself did things to try and make her feel like she fit in immediately.

When we got to high school she was accepted as a speaker in the "I Speak for Democracy" contest. She gave her speech in an assembly and when I think of that day and that speech it can bring a tear or two to my eyes.It was an amazing speech and everyone was grasped by her words. I believe she went on to win the Vermont title with that speech.

She was fine young woman and always seemd to have a friendly smile. RIP Aniela.
