Father Blemker served as chaplain and also taught religion and Latin. He is fondly remembered for his gentle sense of humor and wise advice. After spending nearly 25 years in Peru, he returned to Saint Louis, reportedly to care for his ailing mother. He often spoke glowingly of the Peruvian missions.
