The lovely Pam Flaton accomplished a great deal, as described in this obituary:

Pamela Bartkowiak

Pamela Ann Bartkowiak, 61, of Lansing died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI. Private family services will be held at a later date. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted the family.

Pamela was born February 7, 1947 in St. Louis, MO to Edwin and Mavis (Tranthan) Flaton. She graduated from high school in St. Louis and attended the University of Kansas, receiving a degree in Advertising and Journalism. During college she was the first female editor of the college paper, The Daily Kansas, and in her senior year she was named Outstanding Journalism Student in the nation by the New York Advertising Club.

She married Carl Bartkowiak July 8, 1978 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Chicago, IL, where Pamela worked for the Chicago Tribune, and also worked free lance in advertising for several companies: including Plunkett Furniture, Berkshire Brass Bed, and York Furrier. They have lived in Lansing the past nine years, where she did advertising work for Ross Furniture and Piggy's Restaurant, both in LaCrosse, WI.

She is survived by her husband, Carl, of Lansing; two sisters; and one brother.

Thanks Brian for this.  Pam was such a clever and funny girl, making us laugh with the stories about her family. It's hard to believe someone so vital is gone.

Pam was always such so much fun to be around.  Thanks Brian for posting this obit notice.   It seems a shame that someone so vital and energetic could be gone too soon.
