Sheryl and I were friends since we were in 1st grade at Riverview Elementary.  A 58 year friendship made her my forever friend.  She was kind, compassionate, hard working, an amazing cook, and so full of love for her family and friends.  Although she lived in South Dakota and I live in California, we always kept in touch.  I'm grateful for the fun memories of trips with Sheryl and Gayle Hunt spent together in Kansas City, San Jose, and Maui.  A true friend is the greatest blessing and I miss her.

Sheryl and I became fast friends on our very first day of kindergarten, in the "White Cottage" of Riverview Gardens Elementary School, when we were both 5 years old. That friendshop was forever. Even though, as adults, Sheryl, Donna Stoppelmann Steiner, and I lived far away from each other - in Missouri, South Dakota, and California - we always remained in close touch with each other. We were all present at each other's weddings. The three of us shared everything - the birth of our children, the loss of our parents, illnesses, job changes, everyday problems, challenges, and joys, and the births of our grandchildren.  Sheryl had an uncanny knack of somehow knowing when I needed to talk to her, and would seemingly magically call me. She was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful and loving friend, an incredibly hard worker, and a truly amazing cook!  Her kindness and empathy had no bounds. And she LOVED fishing! Some of my favorite memories of the three of us together are trips we took together - we had wonderful and priceless times in both California and Maui. My life was soooo blessed by the prescence of her friendship. I miss her everyday.
