Hello Riverview Gardens HS Class of 1974 Classmates

SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2024 IS THE DATE

The 50th Reunion is currently in the planning phase by the committee members.

Chances are it's occurred to you that it's been nearly FIFTY (50?!?) YEARS since we graduated high school!  How can that be?  Wasn't it just ten, maybe?  Well, a few of us have been talking about it, and have met (ZOOM is such a wonderful tool) a couple of times to discuss and plan an event to celebrate.  We cleverly refer to ourselves as "The Reunion Committee"...

Of course, it's inevitable that some of you out there are thinking, "why would I want to socialize with people I went to school with 50 years ago?", or, "I wasn't popular ... those people were a bunch of snobs".  Well, some of the committee members weren't popular either, but none of us are the same individuals that we were waaaaayyyy back then. Come on... we're grown-ups now... we only THOUGHT we were back then. We don't care if you're wrinkled, gray, fat, toothless, or bald... most of us are too!  Time to 'get over it'.

Friends, the 60's and the 70's were an era of tumultuous cultural shifts.  Just think about that for a minute.  We experienced it TOGETHER, and it bonded us in ways both big and small (one could wax eloquent on the change in music alone).  Our hair, the way we dressed, our ideology in general changed in ways no other generation had ever experienced.  The Vietnam War raged, civil rights battles grabbed headlines, and the counter-culture movement changed the way we looked at the world.  We joined causes, began speaking up for ourselves and others.  That said, a class reunion is simply a collective walk down memory lane.  The good times, the bad times... the high times.  We can listen to the soundtrack of our lives, mourn those who are no longer with us, and celebrate those who are.  It's a step beyond a Facebook connection. So please consider joining us.  It will be FAR OUT, we promise!
