Geoff Hughes

I'm a "guest" here because I left Bogie after two years to take the photo program at Dixie M. Hollins H.S. I later spent two years at SPJC and an additional three at FSU, where I studied Philosophy. In graduate school I shared seminars with Karl Hein, class of '62. Karl went on to get his Ph.D., and later an MBA at Columbia.

In April of '66 I married Bonnie Panther, class of '63. We were married 39 years, and lived in North Carolina, Chicago, Rochester, NY, and Reston, VA. I still live in the metro DC area. Our son, David, lives and teaches middle school math in Waynesboro, VA, where he settled after getting his master's at UVA.


I've spent my entire adult life in one aspect or another of book publishing or bookselling. For the last dozen years of my career I was with Hoghton Mifflin Harcourt, where I sold about $20 million worth of p-books, as we now call them, a year.

I'm now fully retired, and spending a good bit of time working on an Ashtanga Yoga practice. The health benefits are remarkable, but I'm still far from "enlightenment."
