Prairie Village, Kan.--Class of 1960 classmate, Robert G. "Bob' Ator, age 71, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died peacefully at his home on June 15 following a long battle with cancer.
The funeral liturgy was June 19 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Prairie Village .Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Visitation was June 18 at Porter Funeral home, Monrvia Lenexa, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Bob was born on June 29, 1940, in Streator, to Glen and Priscilla (Tapley) Ator. Bob met Cathy D. Friess in Kankakee, and they were married on February 14 1963.
Bob worked for Owens-Illinois before moving to Kansas where he worked at Hudson Oil Company, Total Petroleum and Maher Oil Company. Bob was an avid pool player, loved fishing and above all, loved his grandchildren. Bob was fun loving, never met a stranger and enjoyed live with family and friends. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Cathy of 49 years, Bob leaves his son, Kevin, three grandchildren, Jordan, Bridget and Andrew, his parents, Prisilla Morgan and Glen Ator, three sisters, Sandy, Betty, Patty and their families. The family would like to thank the Hospice caregivers for their loving support and care in Bob's time of suffering.
Arrangements were handled by Porter Funeral Homes & Crematory, Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas.
