Thomas N. Clayton, 51, of 3010 Jenney Court, Sterling, died Friday, February 25. 1994. at CGH Medical Center. 

Services will be held at 7 p.m. today Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling.  The Rev. Bernard J. Juliane, pastor of St. Andrew Catholic Church will officiate.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born Sept. 7, 1942, in Streator, he was the son of Russell and Constance (Noon) Clayton.  He was formerly married to Betty Jo Hughes on Sept. 14, 1963, in Streator.

Surviving are sons, Mark Clayton of Rock Falls and Eric Clayton of Sterling; a grandson, Michael J. Clayton, and brothers, Jon R. Clayton  and Craig M. Clayton, both of Rockford.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Employed as a claims representative at the Social Security office in Sterling since 1967, he was an avid golfer and served as a former Cub Scout leader.

A memorial has been established to the Salvation Army.
