
Jeannie Cowling (Casey)
December 17, 1941-- February 5, 2018
STREATOR — Jeannie M. Casey, 76, of Streator, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas, where she and her husband Larry had wintered for the past 17 years.
Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Dr. Rory Christensen will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Private burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Casey, Ryan Knippel, Isaac Gage, Mason Corbin, Randy Casey, Colt Ables and Justin Jackson.
Born Dec. 17, 1941, in Leland, she was the daughter of Fred and Anna (Grieder) Cowling. She married Larry Casey on June 15, 1958. He survives in Streator. She is also survived by daughters, Lee Anne (Ray) Knippel, of Ottawa, and Cathy (Duane) Gage, of Beeville, Texas; a son, Michael (Krista) Casey, of Roy, Wash.; grandchildren, Kristie Corbin, Ryan Knippel, Sara (Colt) Ables, Isaac Gage, Hannah (Justin) Jackson, Derek Casey, Raven (Gavin) Casey-Yost and Gianna Casey; great-grandchildren, Mason Corbin, Addelyn Knippel, Vega Casey, Eli Casey and Charlee Maxine Yost; and nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Barbara Simmons and Elsie Rieck. She attended Streator High School. She was a member of Central Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Food Pantry. She worked at Streator High School from 1976 until 1994 as the food service manager. She later worked for Pontiac Grade Schools as the food service director from 1994 until her retirement in 2000.
Jeannie loved life and everyone she met loved her. She dearly loved her family and friends and her extended family in Weslaco, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of her great-granddaughter, Charlee Maxine Yost, who was born with cystic fibrosis.
