Surrounded by his family, Bruce S. Humphrey, 67 of Mesa, Ariz., died at 4:04 p.m., Tuesday, October 13, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa.
 
A memorial tribute will be from 2 to 4p.m. Sunday, October 25, at Imperial Broadmoor Mobile Home Park, 2600 E. Allred Ave, Mesa.  Wyman Cremation and Burial Chapel in Mesa handled the arrangements.
 
Born August 18, 1942, in Chicago, he was the son of Holman and Joanne Humphrey.
 
He is survived by his four children, Rhonda Cancel, Ron (Christine) Humphrey, Randy Humphrey and Renae Ortega, and his ex-wife and friend, Eva Humphrey, all in the Mesa, Arizonia, area.  He has eight grandchildren, Michael, Marcus and Breanna Ortega, Sarah, Stephanie and Jonathan Cancel, and Caitlin and Alexandra Hmphrey.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
He attended local elementary schools and graduated from Streator Township High School in 1960.
 
Bruce was employed throughout the years at the Anthony Company, Peabody Meyers; and after relocating to Arizona in 1986, he was employed at Equipment Sales and Colter Nursing Home in Phoenix.
 
Bruce was an avid drag racer, and in later years, a great fan of the race world.  During his prime racing days, he raced a variety of drag racing cars, among them being dragsters and an AA-fuel-altered car, which he built himself and then went on to set a couple of track records with it.  Over the years he received many trophies and awards for his efforts.
